Chi sono

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is an open book, I'm not sure when it will end, or if it has begun already, it's to experience areas of life which I cannot do back home, meet some worthy people, eat amazing food, and learn as much as I possibly can. Good or Bad.

ABOUT ME

I am 30 years old, male, and from down under in New Zealand, which is not part of Australia :-)

I grew up on a farm, raising sheep and horses (Deliverance?). By the time I was 6/7 I was given a Concise Atlas as a birthday present (Mum always had an eccentric taste as to what children wanted for birthdays) but... ever since then, I have had a fascination with the world, geography, languages and cultures. I made a decision to complete University , save a bit of coin, and then make the trip halfway across the world, and whatever happens...happens :-)

I am interested in languages, a good topic of conversation, local sites which aren't known or popular. I enjoy the local food and drink scene and immersing myself into the present, soaking up all there is to know.

I prefer the Outdoors, and heading out of the cities finding the places and gems which don't get much of a mention.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy, is to eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow, you may be dead.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I signed up to Couch Surfing after I finished Uni, however much to my flatmates disapproval, we were not successful in having people surf with us, So I used to instead be active on the forums and provide hints and tips to people travelling to Christchurch and beyond.

I'm using it, as when I head back to NZ, I want to return the favour to surfers in NZ needing a place to stay. I know how difficult it can be being on a budget and trying to minimize costs, but you make that up with sharing your world with others.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

There has been pretty few instances of couch surfing since I signed up, apart from the the forums, Currently travelling overseas we have had family to stay with in South Africa, Singapore and always had accomodation in the UK, now that I am independent, I would love to create some experiences, (and good ones hopefully!)

I had an amazing time in Gothenburg with a host there, for three days we shared some amazing moments together, and I fully appreciate the hospitality that couchsurfing involves, I love how it's not just a place to rest, but a cultural exchange, and it works both ways! It's exciting, and nerve racking at the same time about who you are going to meet up with.

Interessi

I'm interested in Politics, and multi culturalism (we can discuss this), I'm keen on the Environment and Conservation, and enjoy learning about what communities and countries do in regards to protecting their own,

I like food, both eating and cooking, and no doubt, if you allow me, I'll be happy to cook for you!

I like Tramping, Trekking, Hiking,

Languages.

Abandoned Places ? If given the chance, and it's safe, I'll explore!

Musica, film e libri

I read mainly Natural History and Political History, (Look Up Cod; Coal; Chavs). I like comics, such as Garfield :-P

Most Movies - Just no romantic ones, or soppy ones where you cry at the end!

Music - I'm an open book, try me!

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

One huge highlight, was driving a Mercedes S Class for a month around South Africa, on roads which I have never driven or encountered before, through national highways, to back dirt roads going into some of the most poorest and dangerous communities there is in South Africa. From wide open savannahs, to rainforest and coastal driving. Driving at night throughout roads that a TomTom didn't recognise, to driving the mean streets of Durban and Johannesburg, to almost hitting a 1 tonne Bull, on several occasions driving on the smell of an oily rag...nearly running out of fuel in the most isolated places I have been to.

I have just completed the El Camino (Frances) in March 2016! Easily the best thing that I have done in my life so far!

Insegna, impara, condividi

I can teach you Japanese, and how to write your name in Japanese :-)

I can teach you Maori....but I won't teach you any war dances,

I can teach you Scottish Dancing.

I can show you where to go in London using the Underground.

I can prepare meals for you, and I have a Masters in Dish Washing and cleaning up after myself, so you get the ultimate couch surfing fine dining experience!
