About Me
I am the director of Foundation for Humane and Social Link (Fohuso )and Stripes Tour and Safaris
HISTORY
I was born and raised in a poor Tanzanian familly that could not afford to send me to school. The situation at home forced me to look for help in my studies which I got through CADA a Non profit Organization which made sure I studied until the completion of my studies
After I completed my studies I Volunteered with Tanzania National parks (TANAPA). during my volunteering time conducted two major activities. being a tour guide for tourists and groups of students but also conducting ecological activities.in the serengeti national park. My volunteering in Serengeti national parks led to a lot of gifts and congratulations from tourists for the great knowledge I had on wildlife and ecology activities there after I decided to register my own tour company.which slowly is grew to a profit making company one of the best in Mwanza
As my tour company grew i found a way to give back to my community and thus FOUNDATION FOR HUMANE AND SOCIAL LINK was found dealing with what I know best way wildlife, ecology, and environmental conservation I invited my friends who have the same passion and knowledge and we registered an NGO with the following objectives
-To give our kids an experience of a life time that will cement their futures as Wildlife ambassadors
-CREATING A GENERATION OF WILDLIFE advocates
CURRENT PROGRAM
FOHUSO Education and Outreach program, Students Environment Travelling is an educational program that introduces Tanzanian children to practical
tourism especially on endangered wildlife through a nationwide program targeting public primary schools. We are leveraging the 2019 to 2020 calendar
and use companion activity books and learning materials, activities and field
trips
Through the program we takes children between five and eighteen years old to the national parks and reserves throughout Tanzania. FOHUSO hosts camping trips each year for children where they learn about the environment,
critically endangered species inhabiting the parks and the conservation efforts of scientists and communities in and around wildlife areas
The participants of the expedition are 5 to 18 year old children from some of
the most remote and inaccessible schools in Tanzania. We teach them how to track animals with expert trackers, and learn how to identify birds, plants, insects, and how to read signs in the landscape.
They go on a game drives, go to different habitats, climb hills. They learn to use binoculars, how to take photographs and how to collect samples of water, dung, grasses and wild flowers. They meet scientists and learn
about livestock, and the ecological balance of nature threats of poaching, climate change, invasive species, habitat degradation and restoration.
At night there is storyteling, star gazing, and poetry around the camp
fire, as well as wildlife film screenings.
DETAILED STATEMENT OF PROJECT
Many children in Tanzania, especially those in informal settlements and religious children, have never seen wildlife or been to any of our national parks and reserves.
FOHUSO seeks to engage these children by developing learning materials such as research and activity books to educate children about different species of animals.
Through citizen science, FOHUSO connects children to their wildlife and nature and inspires them to value and act to conserve it.
Through technology and science the children in turn nurture their desire to
want to share this information with their peers, parents, teachers and larger
community.
This program’s aim is to create a generation of young advocates and champions of conservation who meaningfully work within their communities and
contribute to sustainable and responsible solutions to matters effecting the
environment, conservation and human wildlife conflict.
We can attest that the seed for mynk passion for conservation was planted during school field trips, this is why We are committed to making this a trip that
creates more sharp, dedicated and professional conservationists
We offer a short term volunteering experience to tourists and volunteers who want to do something for the community in a short period of time
DURATION: 4-8 hours
ACTIVITIES: a volunteer gets to work in a project of his/her choosing for only a short period of time
The iternaries for a JISIKIE NYUMBANI EXPERIENCE are prepared per volunteer enquiry and information but the experience always remains a memorable one.
