Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A friend made me discover Couchsurfing last summer and I loved it! So I thought why not trying it on my own?!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It was the end of the day, the second of a road trip by bike and I was with two friends. We arrived on the top of a mountain pass when it started to rain. We went down slowly until we found shelter. There was an old chalet and after a few minutes the owner invited us to come in. We were in German-speaking Switzerland and only one of us three understood (more or less) our interlocutor. We learned that the last rain had blocked the entire valley for several days and that her husband and son were milking the cows by hand because there was no electricity.
We were imagining ourselves staying there for a few days but hopfuly the rain stopped.
We went down to the bottom of the valley (the river had overflowed in several places) and arrive to the nearest city in the night (where we may have found the last room free).
I will never forget the smell and the atmosphere of this tiny wooden chalet (which had only one isolated room) and the sympathy of this grandma who offered us, coffee, clothes, and cheese.
