ABOUT ME
Hellllo!
I appreciate that I've been able to surround myself with inspiring people from all over the world who love to connect. I think photography and storytelling has a lot to do with that. I’ve been working alongside photo travel workshops and producing exhibitions, talks and workshops around photo for awhile now. Traveling is the best way to grow and the camera gives a reason to engage.
When I was 6, I won $400 picking all the double numbers in Keno. 11, 22, 33...
New Orleans introduced me to boiled turkey necks and I thank it for that as well as a rich cultural experience.
Im bad at spelling and I gave up on that in 3rd grade. There are better things to do out there like setting up a rappel on a rooftop, enjoying a jar of anchovies, or working toward the splits while listening to chamber of secrets audible in Spanish. Thank you so much for those little red lines under most difficult words.
PHILOSOPHY
You can pick your friends,
And you can pick your nose,
But you can't pick your friend's nose.
—Dad
You can pick your friends nose though. I’ve learned that my parents did their best but they’re not always right.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My house is a revolving door… always temp roommates, friends and surfers coming in and out of the house. I try to host when I can but I don’t always have time to show folks around. I’ll put you in interesting directions though! New Orleans is a place where people come to party which is totally acceptable and part of the culture but since I'm not on vacation and I like to see daylight once-in-awhile, I'm not big on the nightlife and I'm not going to Bourbon St but I'll have a crawfish picnic by the river or ride the streetcar to the cemeteries.
Check out my sister/ sometimes roommate Robin! is very involved in CS as an ambassador in New Orleans. We plan events and host/choose surfers together.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've been a member since 2004. Since living in New Orleans, my roommates and I have hosted well over 100 surfers and workawayers. I've also been involved in local CS events and have surfed in Italy, Ireland, Beijing, Costa Rica, Alaska and Memphis. From the experience I've made lasting friendships all over the world.
Interests
I especially love photography and the outdoors--canoeing, climbing, SUP, kayaking, backpacking and all that jazz. I also like jazz, most music, live music, and trying oh so slowly to learn the ukulele and guitar. I have also found that all this is more fun with people.

Music, Movies, and Books
For some reason I’ve had a lot of classics with the whole aristocratic adultery tragic romance theme fall in my lap like Anna Karenina, Awakening, lady whathernames lover, tender is the night… I read or listen to books about the brain like stolen focus, the body keeps the score, becoming fluent, the culture map. Like docs and adventure films. All kinds of music.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Toured the Keck Observatory on Manua Kea with a bunch of 16-year-olds, explored Mongolia with a group from India, took a group of MBAs canoeing up the Colorado, watched my mom grandma and sister all cross one of their eyes at the same time and pondered nature vs. nurture, and rescued my sister's teddy bear from a very high profile balcony by climbing the pole in the middle of the day (We'll talk about it in 3 years).
***It's been 3 years. It was Brangelina. They're selling the place. I don't think they know about the rescue.
Teach, Learn, Share
I’m a photographer and I developed photo based programs. Anything photo. Work with Santa Fe Workshops, Nobechi Creative, National Geographic etc. Also curate exhibitions and connect people to photography!
California is home to the tallest, most voluminous, AND oldest trees in the world. It is also still my favorite geographic region.
