About Me
My husband and I are parents to six girls and two boys. Grandparents to 17 and Great grandparents to 1.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Our daughter and son-in-law have had some awesome experiences doing this while traveling and thought we would like to experience it. We've thought of hosting as well, when our house is empty.
We haven't had the opportunity to travel very far, so thought this would be a way to bring the world to us. A few years ago, we hosted a girl from Bolivia for two weeks. It was interesting to visit with her and learn about her country and culture. We still stay in contact a little bit.
Should we get a chance to travel, besides saving money, we could get a better feel for a location through the locals.
Interests
We like puttering in the garden (2016 is turning out to be a bumper year!), sitting around the campfire, dutch oven cooking, outdoor concerts/events, finding hot springs/clothing optional beaches.
Almost every weekend finds us treasure hunting at the local yard sales, even if we are traveling. If a sale looks like they might have "weird things", we can't resist. Even the local dump is fair game. We came home with a knight in 'almost' shining armor and a matching panther. The neighbors never know what they will see in our yard.
We have taken a couple of Kirk Duncan's intro classes on body language and my husband can spend hours watching YouTube videos on the subject. He finds what people do fascinating.

Music, Movies, and Books
We tend to lean toward the classics in music and movies, although a good modern, thought-provoking movie is always interesting. Musical theatre is fun, also. We try to attend any outdoor concerts the surrounding cities have during the summer.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My husband survived a yak attack. That's a story you'll have to ask him about.
I don't think I've done anything amazing. Then I look at our family photo and think, WOW! Where did all these people come from? They have grown up into amazing adults and are raising amazing families.
Teach, Learn, Share
We are always glad to share what we've learned in life during our 50+ years of things to do and NOT do. And we are eager to learn what others have to share.
Countries I’ve Visited
