Overview
About Me
We are a travelling couple who left the UK in September 2017 with the mantra of 'Live Low and Slow'. We are currently (update below) renting a house in Goa, India and will be spending time travelling around India, with a side visit to Sri Lanka in March 2018 (visa run) and after June 2018 will be heading further into SE Asia.
Lisa is a feinted hearted hippy with feminist overtones and is well travelled. Mark is also well travelled and is always happy especially when near or on the sea.
We both have a younger outlook on life and enjoy meeting new people, exploring new areas and going on adventures.
Because we like to meet new people we felt that joining and using CS would be an excellent way to do this, rather than book into hotels (which we could do) and not make any meaningful contacts.
Mark recently picked up his guitar again and Lisa hopes to buy a harmonica soon and learn that.
Update: We are now living in Spain, in the Valencia region, and looking forward to seeing more of Europe when travel bans are lifted. We now have residential status here, as Brexit for us was very limiting.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We are looking for a new life adventures. So CS would seem an ideal element of that for our journey to different countries.
We hope to do a variety of things whilst travelling, volunteering, workaways and trips etc, will be staying on couchsurfing as it would be nice to meet local people when we land somewhere new.
We hosted people when back in the UK and that was a great experience and fun - and hope that this is reciprocated as travellers ourselves.
Interests
Obviously we love travelling, and this so far has been very interesting as, shall we say, a little older than the usual 'backpacker'.
We are quite a spiritual couple and sometimes see situations in a different light - asking questions like 'this has happened for a reason, wonder what that reason is ...'.
We are genuine, mindful, approachable, friendly and talkative.
In quiet times we like to read, in busy times we like to dance and party.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am an avid reader, anything from the classics to self-development books. My favourite being Far From the Madding Crowd, probably because I see myself in the Bathsheba character. A book called the Celestine Prophecies had a big impact on how I view people in my life and the world - in a positive way.
Mark has a new interest in crypto currency.
As for music we have different tastes to be honest. Lisa is more into dance, reggae, house, RnB; and Mark likes rock, trance, blues, EDM etc. Along with spontaneous jam sessions (hence Lisa wanting to learn a portable instrument!).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Most recently it has to be Canoning. I was standing at the top of the waterfall and one of the locals zoomed by me and it was as if he was running vertical down the rock face. I turned to the guide and said 'F**k if I'm going to do that!' Thankfully I just had to jump. (Sorry about the language!)
Happy days!
Teach, Learn, Share
Conversation is a great way to share ideas and information. We'd love to hear your stories, your views on what the UK is like and to listen to you and what you'd like to share yourself.
What I Can Share with Hosts
We are a couple in more mature years, Lisa is 58 and Mark is 64 and we do have adventurous spirits whilst being rather laid back too. Mark is learning the guitar and is doing quite well (Lisa is going to try to learn the harmonica - it still sounds painful!)
Other things we can share are conversations about the UK, life stories, Mark used to be in the Merchant Navy so has travelled a lot himself too. Lisa travelled a lot, including a backpacking round the world trip with her 7yr old son. We are both parents of now grown up children.
