About Me

Hey there :) I am Lisa and just this year I have moved from the smaller city of Greifswald to Berlin to work here as a teacher at a secondary school. I live in this beautiful city together with my boyfriend Thomas, whom I met in Greifswald and who is now coordinating projects concerning sustainability and energy management. We both work a lot during the week, but on the weekends we enjoy having some time for ourselves to go out and enjoy the city, have some drinks out with friends, spend time hiking in the nature or just relax at home and cook together.

Last year I started to do Yoga classes and since then I have been trying to live a more conscious life which includes protecting the environment as much as i can, being conscious in the way I live and consume and also trying to eat vegan (though I am not that strict on it). Just as I teach my children at school, I try to remind my self continuously that it is our responsibility to care for our planet, our society and ourselves. Thus, I am very curious to learn more about this healthy and mindful way of living. -> After all, don't worry - we are not super eco or spiritual and Thomas still enjoys his Döner (non veggi and non vegan :-D ) regularly. We just want to find our way to contribute to our world in a positive way and if you have made any experiences in that direction yourself, we are highly interested in your opinion and advice :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Together Thomas and I spent three amazing months couchsurfing through the southern states of the USA and we met so many great people and were able to make such amazing experiences that we decided to give something back to other people who want to be part of this great community. Thus we decided to refresh our account and to to start hosting in order to enable others the chance to make as beautiful encounters and experiences as we did!

Interests

Thomas is really interested in electronic music. Besides, he is kind of obsessed with collecting stickers - street art style - not the kiddie ones ;-) He told me to mention that he would be more than happy if you as couchsurfers from different cities and countries could bring some stickers from your regions in case you manage to find some ;-) Besides, Thomas is really easy going. He likes to spend time with friends a lot, he is passionate about cooking and he is definitely obsessed with eating Döner. So in case that you are interested in finding the best one in town -> just ask :-P

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- working at an elementary school for one year and discovering the passions that kids have about learning
- hiking down the Grand Canyon, taking a bath in the Colorado River and going back up in one day
- writing my own food blog during my studies
- helping a Syrian refugee family to settle down in Greifswald
- Couchsurfing through the USA!
- taking half a year off for myself after finishing my studies
- observing a homeless man on a train who found a 10 Dollar note and walked around asking for the owner of it instead of just taking it for himself.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Thomas and I would love to show you around our beautiful city. We can give you advice on what to do, where to go and what to see apart from all those standard touristy sights. Of course, we can also introduce you to the German cuisine and we are very interested in exchanging cultural information! :-) Since we are both pretty busy during the week, we will not always have time to spend the whole day together with you. But we can provide you with lots of tipps and ideas. On the weekends or propably after work, however, we'd be more than happy to have dinner together or to go out exploring together with you ;-)

Countries I’ve Visited
