About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To learn all that I can from as many people as I can so that I can create things that make a difference.
ABOUT ME
I'm 23. I'm a positive person who nearly always wears a smile on my face. I love meeting new people and exploring new places. I am really into creating art and useful objects and have experience in drawing, painting, sculpture, woodworking, sewing, metalworking- nearly every craft or art you could think of outside of glass blowing. I'm also really into architecture- whether we're talking an Alvar Aalto Auditorium, or a Greek Temple, or your own kitchen and back porch- both the grand and the personal intrigue me. I'm a vegetarian who makes occasional exceptions for really good fish, and I'm really into sustainability and healthy living. I run almost every day. I can sometimes be quite timid around a few people and then very outgoing and leader-like in large group situations, or vice versa, but for the most part around new people I'm very outgoing and excitable.
PHILOSOPHY
I live for those fleeting feelings of clarity that often hit when I've done something that I didn't think I could do. My personal philosophy is that everything works out in the end- bad events help you to learn, or to appreciate, and good events are much more common than we think. Fate works in mysterious ways.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Simple. When I'm travelling, I like to meet people and be hosted. When I'm at home, I want to be able to occasionally host travelers.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
When I was studying abroad in Denmark a few years ago, almost any travelling I did involved me staying at the houses of fellow couch surfers. They were all extremely gracious people and I hope to be able to provide the same experience for others back at my home in the U.S.
Interests
Spending time outdoors, meeting people, challenging myself to do more, see more, learn more, pushing myself outside of my comfort zone, whether that means running longer than I ever have before or speaking to someone in their home language that I'm unfamiliar with, I want to experience all that I can with eyes wide open. Also, I like to draw, paint, and get to know people from different walks of life. And hike, bike, swim, run, play games, and just be active!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One amazing thing that I saw when I was in Switzerland was how in a single day the world transformed from cold, snowy, foggy, and windy to bright, sunny, clear, warm and calm. Being outside, and being caught up in that transformation was beautiful beyond belief. Also, I've climbed up a wind turbine (one of the big ones) and recently ran my first marathon (Copenhagen, 4:04:28).
