CURRENT MISSION

A big adventure to New Zealand to learn about Maori performing arts, and hopefully learn more about my own peformance skills at the same time.

ABOUT ME

I'm a student at an arts college down in pretty South Devon. I study Music with Theatre Practices, with singing as my first instrument. I enjoy singing/performing - mainly contemporary musical theatre, pop, bits of classical, jazz and folk. I sometimes burst into song at inappropriate moments, but I'm not sure there's anything to be done about that...

I'm quite a girly girl and love beautiful things, especially those that take you by surprise. The sea in particular makes me very happy! I very much like listening to interesting people tell interesting stories about themselves, and maybe getting into the odd discussion about a contentious topic or two.

PHILOSOPHY

A smile costs nothing and I find people seem to like them.

Interests

Music, theatre, musical theatre, reading, lazy afternoons of Pimms and gossip, playing the piano to myself, wandering around places I've never been before.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a touch idealistic and therefore love Disney...please don't point out any Walt Disney Nazi sympathies etc, I try to ignore such whisperings!!
You can't beat a good musical - Hairspray is pure cheesy genius.
Other favourites include Gone With the Wind, This Is England, The Shawshank Redemption, Breakfast at Tiffany's, The Pianist and There Will Be Blood. TV-wise i love love love Green Wing, it makes me laugh like a crazy person.
Music heroes - Idina Menzel, Ella Fitzgerald, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Freddie Mercury, Bernadette Peters, Judy Garland, Aretha Franklin and Bette Midler.
Books - I will literally read anything with words on it. I am partial to a wee bit of Jane Austen though, not to mention Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights.

Teach, Learn, Share

At this specific moment I'm planning my NZ trip and would love to hear from anyone with an interest/experience in Maori performing arts or contemporary theatre practices. In return, I'd like to share my own performance experiences, ideas and training and generally be part of a cultural exchange.
