About Me
The laste time I really updated my profile was sometimes in 2012/13 I think. It would be time for a make-over. I have of course changed since then, but in the end also not so much. If I have time and creativity I will update it. Sometimes... So far I encourage you to meet me and find out for yourself.
CURRENT MISSION
Discovering the world and myself, while hopefully being able to make at least a small positive contribution :)
ABOUT ME
I would describe myself in a few words as an open, easy going, cheerful and hopelessly optimistic person, sometimes a little confused and too keen to do well, but all in all fun to hang out with I guess =). I laugh and smile a lot and usually don't take myself and everything else too seriously. I do have some kind of talent for weird or embarrassing stuff happening to me, but hey ,even though not all of that was fun the moment it happened, it's usually just another good story to tell =). I also talk quite a lot (to others, to myself, to animals, to things...) and sometimes tend not to think too much before saying stuff, but this also makes it more fun to be with me :) In my freetime I like meeting friends, doing Sports, reading, partying, listening to music, talking and travelling of course. I'm a vegetarian but tolerant, so if you eat meat go ahead, that's a decision everyone has to make for him- herself live and let live.
p.s.: Obviously writing something more personal, actually showing that you've read my profile, will increase your chance of getting hosted ;)
PHILOSOPHY
Travel light,
live light,
spread the light,
be the light.
(The wisdom of this morning's Yogi tea. I really like Yogi tea. It's also a lot shorter and easier to understand than the five verse Herman Hesse poem in German that 2012/13 Lisa put in here before.)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I host. I surf. I write personal couch requests. I choose hosts that I feel are interesting people, I would want to spent time with. I would always prefer staying at a hostel, if I just want a place to sleep and don’t really feel like socializing with the person who is sharing his or her home with me. I respect common courtesy, clean up after myself, make a contribution in the household tasks, all in all just the simple things to not make your host feel abused as “just a free place to spend the night”.
As a host I will do everything for people to feel at home and integrate them into my life. If I have limitations (like my job during weekdays) I will communicate them transparently (in my profile, or in the personal couch request), so that surfers can decide if they still want to stay with me.
Oh and I write references - important for other people on couchsurfing and of course a courtesy for the host or surfer you met.
Why do I even mention those things? Shouldn’t they be pretty obvious? After quite a long couchsurfing hibernation I have started hosting again, in an apparently popular destination, and a fair share of the requests I receive make me feel like couchsurfing has somehow changed, not exactly for the better.
So while CS now prefers to advertise “Travel the world for free” - I would say yes free of charge - but not for nothing, so please just use your common sense and realize that you are not staying at a hostel ;)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I hosted and surfed a fair bit during the years. The people I met were all interesting in their own special way. I still consider couchsurfing an amazing platform to bring people together :)
Interests
I'm quite easy to excite and interested in nearly everything. Still I will try to list some stuff to give you a general idea (the sequence doesn't mean anything I just wrote stuff down as confused as it came to my mind):
Travelling, music, books, sports, films, humor, animals, sleeping, to smile and laugh, organic and fair trade stuff, talking sense and nonsense, yoga, intelligence, good mood, nature, my family, fruit and vegetable, tattoos, freedom and independence, tea, nature, most things that are kind of "green" or "alternative", philosophizing and discussing, hugging, exchanging stories, vegan/vegetarian food and to simply enjoy life and not taking it that seriously =)
Music, Movies, and Books
I really love reading and I also like watching movies I'm just far too lazy to list all the books, movies or bands I like.
My musical roots probably lie somewhere in Rock music, but by now my taste is much more widespread. I'm really into Latin American Music. I like World Music in general. If you ask me for my favorite artist I would probably say Manu Chao, even though it's always hard to pick "your favorite" anything. I generally think every genere has good and bad songs. I'm alway open for new things and happy about new musical recommendations.
On my nightstand lies Eichman in Jerusalem by Hannah Arendt at the moment.
The last movie I saw that I found great was El abrazo de la serpiente by Ciro Guerra. However, I will propose Festen and El crimen del Padre Amaro for our cinema club in Córdoba.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm a pretty enthusiastic person, so I consider many things as amazing.
I guess it that means I value the virtue of small things. And that I am doing amazing stuff all the time :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I think everybody I met taught me something most of them didn't even realize it. So i guess it really depends on the state of your personal development what you can pick up and consider valuable to learn.
We can share stories, experiences, point of views and hopefully some good memories from our encounter.
I can teach you some vegan cooking and baking, some German (at least some random words that make your folks at home think you actually learned it), how to laugh about nearly everything (I'm really good at that, true story) well, and I'm sure many other things I'm probably mostly not aware of.
I wanna learn a lot, as I'm interested in nearly everything, and the things I'm not really interested in would be the most valuable for me to learn anyhow =)
