About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm friendly and outgoing! I can be a goof as well, and I enjoy hanging out with all types of people. My friends would probably say I have lots of energy, that I'm clumsy, and that I'm affectionate. I get excited about the smallest things. I am neat and tidy, often finding myself organizing my stuff for too long a time. I am currently spending a semester abroad in France; it's amazing to immerse myself in another country and culture.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is beautiful, enjoy it! I strive to live in the present, which is a meditation and a practice that I may never master, but I'll keep trying anyway.
I believe there is always more to know- about yourself, about the people around you, about the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm currently studying abroad and living with a host family so I am unable to host, but when I return to the States I'd be happy to give back! Right now I am looking to travel around France and meet as many people as I can along the way.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm a newbie

Interests

In a nutshell: nature, health, food, laughing, music, travel
I love spending my time outside, especially hiking, swimming, or just walking around. I think that the most gorgeous things in life are natural-- like Yosemite in California, or the countryside of Dordorgne in France, or the beach in Santa Barbara where I go to school. But that's not to say that my jaw doesn't drop when I set foot in the enormous cathedrals in Europe! I get the most immense sense of joy when I marvel at the beauty of the Earth.
I'm currently studying French, and want to soak up as much French culture and history as I can while in France!
I am also very interested in health and nutrition. Health maintenance such as yoga, eating properly and environmentaly-friendly, stress management, and exercise are all equally fascinating to me. I intend to study medicine.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in high school, I sang in a Renaissance choir that went to Italy and Wales on tour. I remember that we sang for a mass in the Vatican, where the cardinals and a large congregation attended. Though I have no affiliation with Catholicism, I remember being moved to tears in that beautiful cathedral, feeling the enormity of the history that was present there. I felt filled with love for the world despite its imperfections between nations and religions; I will likely never forget that feeling.

More recently, I made a trip to Basque! It was a beautiful country, and it was there that I realized that I connect with the world via food. When I was little, I was so picky that I only ate plain spaghetti and apple sauce. But I have found that I have an enormous capacity to enjoy (and consume) food, and was almost brought to tears by the brebie cheese and gateau basque. Definitely want to go back to Basque.
