About Me
CURRENT MISSION
up for pretty much anything!!!
ABOUT ME
I'm French, but will soon have been living in Scotland for more than I've lived in France!
In Edinburgh, I love meeting new people, and I have been running the Edinburgh French meetup group with some friends since 2006... It's given me the opportunity to meet a lot of people from all over the world...
PHILOSOPHY
love, live, love, live... Love meeting new people, enjoy their stories, discover the world round me, improve the lives of those around me, and help my son become a fantastic man one day!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Like Mr Jourdain, I guess I have been couchsurfing for years without knowing it! I think it's a great project and am sure I will meet a lot of interesting people through it!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
All pre-CS experiences I'm afraid at the moment...
⌂ Staying at a friend's flat for 3 months in 1990 in Aberdeen got me to fall in love with Scotland!
⌂ 1994, uni campus in St-Paul, Minnesota for 1 month in the French House - just soaking in the whole atmosphere, and having coffee in the bookshop/cafe!
⌂ Having round a bunch of 20 year-olds in the summer of 2001 definitely brought some energy to the Festival that year...
⌂ "Saved" a couple of French au-pairs from unpalatable families and wootsy! situations...
⌂ Having 15 people sleeping in my flat after a party... ;-)
⌂ Met French teacher Maria in Ekaterinburgh for a full day in 2006: she was the best guide ever and I hope I can repay the favour for her some time soon!
Hoping to have great, new experiences thanks to CS - passing back the lurv as I go along!!!
Interests
̢́̉ Got to plead guilty to liking food and wine... If you want to make me really happy - cook me something!!
̢́̉ I love reading too, and have been longing to get involved with the bookcrossing movement - except I cannot part from my beloved cḫ̩ris :-( Maybe one day I will learn to let go!
̢́̉ My family is very important to me - My husband is very scottish - the strong, silent type, but he can be great fun (british humour!!) - and my lovely son is my perpetual wonder - takes after hubby I'm afraid, rather shy but warms up and becomes sweet crazy!! Loves Russian bread and pelmenii!
̢́̉ partying... Yes, I'm afraid I suffer from the Peter Pan complex, and probably always will... some people find it irritating (irresponsible!) and others, well, take well to me! Don't like clubs so much these days, but pretty much up for anything if asked!

Music, Movies, and Books
â Les Enfants du Paradis - awww: one liners, here we come! Fan-tas-tic!
â Le Comte de Monte Cristo - made me dream so much when I was little and now still, as a grown-up... The whole revenge scenario!! It's fabulous!!
â Eclectic mix of music - generally like to discover a lot... arguably a bit on the old side (négresses vertes, mano negra, manu chao, wampas, garçons bouchers...doors, charlie parker, ella fitzgerald... tom waits (aaah end of parties!)...) but also more recent rock (bloc party, black rebel motorcycle club...)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
⌂ Sleeping in the middle of Mongolia, in a tent with no-one around, stars in the sky and little white flowers all around!
⌂ Escaping from an "official" tour in Albania to get invited to a wedding!
⌂ Beaches north of Aberdeen (yes, where the idiot Trump wants to put a golf course!)
⌂ The lunar landscapes of Shetland! Oh, and the peat!
⌂ Kiasma! Wht a fantastic space in Helsinki - I just want to go back there and explore it some more!
Teach, Learn, Share
⌂ Teach: French! It's my job, but I revel in teaching rude phrases to unsuspecting passers-by!
⌂ Share: armagnac, cognac or mongolian vodka after a good meal. Or before. Or whenever really, but it's got to be at the *right* time! (oops I have just seen the descriptive - not terribly academic that! But I will leave it anyway - to me it's part of the experience of life!)
⌂ Learn: Russian - I want to improve on my Russian (pathetic at the moment!) and develop it more, so I can really communicate with people when I travel there! Met some great guys on and off the train last year, but wished I could have communicated a bit more easily, and without rummaging constantly through my dictionary!!
