About Me
ABOUT ME
Hi! We are a couple currently living and working in Birmingham, England... who enjoy travelling around the UK and Europe as much as we can in our spare time! We've both recently handed in our notice at work (I am the head of a department in a large teaching hospital and Jarrod works in IT), to spend a few months travelling through South America next year on route back to Australia, where we're both originally from. We're both sociable and friendly people, who as you'll see from the info below, are really into travel, music, learning and having fun!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We’ve had some couchsurfers stay with us recently... and should be around more over December and January, if people are looking for somewhere in Brum to stay.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Not yet been couchsurfing ourselves... but planning to do some while we're travelling through South America.
Interests
Travel, music (especially watching gigs & festivals), walking/hiking, camping, skiing/snowboarding, mountain biking, guitar (Jarrod's currently in a band), cooking (love thai food!), dancing (Ceroc, Salsa, Zumba, and to cheesey music on a night out), relaxing on the beach, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books
We're much more into music than movies and books... though I hope to do some more reading whilst travelling next year, so keen for any recommendations! We like an eclectic variety of bands and music styles (except R&B/rap and commercial pop). Some of our favourite bands include: Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Powderfinger, The Shins, The Cat Empire, The Black Keys, Jimi Hendix, Bob Marley, Frank Turner, The waifs... and of course - Jarrod's band - the Sharp Darts!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
So many fantastic experiences... especially travel-related, it's hard to pick just one! Though I don’t think me or my German friend will ever forget scrambling over the last 400m to the summit of Mount Triglav – Slovenia’s tallest mountain (~3000m), and then accidentally descending via a 50m cliff face on the way back to the base… never experienced such adrenaline/relief!
Teach, Learn, Share
I have started learning Spanish and am keen to practise with anyone who has the patience! We both like learning new things - especially about the history and culture of different places, particularly through travel and other peoples experiences. We also like to share our travel stories!
