I grew up in various country areas of Queensland. Bob grew up in Bathurst, NSW. We have sold our 47 acres of bushland in the Lockyer Valley and are now waiting for a new build in the Somerset Region. Hopefully we'll have something to offer again in 12 months.

At this time of my life, my priorities are building a new home, spending time with family and friends and enjoying time travelling.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We like to have new experiences and meet new people. Everyone has a story, and I love to hear the interesting things people have done and places they've been. To me, the next best thing to travelling is to have people travelling staying with us.

I love to have a local experience when travelling. Meeting the locals adds a 'real' dimension to the adventure.

We've hosted many backpackers and international students while living in the Lockyer Valley. That and meeting people on our journeys, has given us opportunities to attend weddings in Germany, Bangladesh and Pakistan and visit new friends in Nepal, Canada, UK, US, Switzerland, Spain, Norway and Australia.

Interests

Who on couchsurfing doesn't love travel? We've been fortunate to visit ~50 countries which I think is pretty remarkable given the accessibility of travel wasn't there when I was younger and we only started travelling when I was in my 40s. While we've done some tourist highlights, we love being off the beaten track and have been to Nepal several times.

We're a family couple and like quiet, space, nature and the local experience when travelling.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love a lot of (late) 70s, 80s and 90s. Bob has much broader tastes which I tolerate at times!
Our go to movies are the Bourne series, Sneakers, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. I tend to feel-goods when I'm by myself.
