About Me
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I was an exchange student as a teenager and had the privilege of living with a local family for a year and found that I learned so much more from them than any tour guide could have taught me. I hope to have travel experiences that allow for a little bit more exposure to real life in the places I visit.
Music, Movies, and Books
I love live music and am pretty open to any genre. But at home I've been listening to a lot of Nina Simone and Kurt Vile lately.
I am an avid reader and am particularly interested in reading stories that capture experiences I would like to better understand. Currently I have been reading a lot of stories (true and fictional) about the Japanese experience in Seattle during World War II.
Teach, Learn, Share
I speak English as a first language, Portuguese as a second. I love to cook and bake and am particularly knowledgeable about gluten free, vegan, paleo cooking.
I love to learn about local cuisine, language, and history. I am especially interested in experiences that are not as typical for the common tourist. I'd much rather try a questionable street food than eat at a five star restaurant.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love to share food and would be thrilled to cook for or with my hosts!
