About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Discover the world and enjoy life!

ABOUT ME

My name is Elisa, I'm a 28 years old and I am French but I currently live in Belgium. I have been lucky enough to also live in very different cities in the US, Mexico, Spain, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Morocco. I've been traveling a lot throughout my life and discovered dozen of countries. But that's only the beginning :) ! What I like the most about traveling is getting to know very different people and waking up every day not knowing what the next 24 hours are gonna be like. I am quite simple, nothing extraordinary about me but life itself is extraordinary and that's enough for me, I enjoy every single day that I am given to live. That's about it, if you want to meet a simple girl who likes to travel, don't hesitate to message me :)

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that everything happens for a reason.

I feel like there's always something to learn about anyone or anything you encounter in life.

And last but not least, whatever you are dreaming of, stop talking about it and JUST DO IT :). Really, whatever it is, make it happen. Because life is short and the world we live in is awesome.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When people host me, I try to cook for them when I can :)

A lot of people like my French crepes with Nutella!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed in dozens of homes and always had a great time with my hosts. From Brazil to Vietnam, from Thailand to Uzbekistan, from Indonesia to Iran, from Cambodia to Bosnia, it is always a pleasure to meet people from around the world and get a glimpse of what their everyday life can be like.

I met tons of amazing persons through this website and it gave me a completely different outlook on what traveling really means. Couchsurfing is not only about sleeping at someone's place, it's all about sharing about our experiences, learning more about our backgrounds, and enjoying the moments we spend together.

Interests

Apart from traveling, one of my biggest passions is to help people in need. I've created and managed a non-profit organization for 3 years and also voluntereed within a few NGOs. I now work for a NGO in the Middle-East and communicate about issues related to the Syrian and Iraqi crisis. I also like to read and write, and I especially enjoy learning about geopolitics.

Another of my interests when I travel is to try local food wherever I am, as I think it is part of the experience. My top five favourite foods of the world are : 1. Middle Eastern (especially Lebanese), 2. Iranian, 3. Indian, 4. Japanese, 5. Indonesian :). My favourite drink is Brazilian (Suco de abacaxi com hortela), my favourite candies are American (M&M's Peanut Butter and Reeses Peanut Butter Cup woohoo, yes, I am a chocolate and peanut butter lover!), my favourite fruit can be found in any tropical country (COCONUT, say yes!), I don't eat much meat (almost none actually), don't drink alcohol, don't smoke and I love fruits and vegetables (avocados, eggplant and spinach being some of my favourites). But I promise, life is FUN even when you are not drinking and almost vegetarian haha!

Music, Movies, and Books

One of my favorite movies is Forrest Gump (a classic!), I could watch it a dozen times. I also like the movies/documentaries Omar, Divines, Lion, Slumdog Millionaire, Sin Nombre, Timbuktu, The salt of the Earth...

As for music, I love to listen to some Sara Tavares, Daniela Andrade, Alicia Keys, Norah Jones, Ayo, Adele, Stevie Wonder, US the duo.

One of my favorite books is "Oumma" by Alfred de Montesquiou and « The little prince » by Antoine de St Exupery. I also love "The Alchemist" and "Manuscript Found in Accra" by Paulo Coelho. One of my favorite author is Gilbert Sinoué. I usually like biographies, books about geopolitics and history.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have lived tons of amazing moments throughout my life so it's hard to just think about one thing. But I would say that, in the end, the most amazing things are those small simple and unexpected moments, my overall life journey and the people I have met along the way.

I've been teaching French, Spanish and English before so I can definitely do it again. I also can give you tips on the countries I have visited so far ! And I am interested in volunteering for humanitarian causes while CouchSurfing.
