About Me

Hello!

I am currently living in Madrid as an assistant English teacher at a primary school until June and this is my fourth year here. It's not where I envisioned my career taking me, but I'm loving every second of it. I enjoy the everyday laughs from my students and exploring this amazing city I'm living in. I'm from the sunny state of California, about an hours way from San Francisco. My family is Mexican so I've had my fair share of travels south of the border.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am interested in traveling both around Europe and Spain. I think it's a great way to meet new people and share experiences with other travelers. It also gives you an opportunity to see the city through the local's point of view. It creates a more unique experience and exposes you to other cultures.
I did couch surfing only one time for the first time I visited Paris and I had an absolute blast spending time with a local while in my favorite city.

Interests

Soccer, Baseball, Waterpolo, hanging out with friends, hiking, traveling
My interests are all over the place. I played water polo in university and recently found a team to play here in Madrid so that's occupying most of my nights now.
As much of a fan I am of sports, I also enjoy the quiet indoor activities as well. I'll never turn down a chance to watch Netflix and enjoy a movie.

Music, Movies, and Books

Almost anything and everything! I'm not picky at all but Gabriel Garcia Marquez is my all time favorite author. Right now I'm attempting to tackle the task of reading my favorite book, One Hundred Years of Solitude, in Spanish.
I studied history in college so I'm a big fan of history books too. The most recent one I read was on Pablo Escobar and the drug cartels.
I'd like to say I keep up with movies, but even when living back home I was quite bad at it. A couple of my favorites: Star Wars, Harry Potter, Fast n Furious series, Life is Beautiful, Juno, Up... as you can see my interests are all over the place.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I visited the Aztec pyramids when I was 11 years old with my family. I also travelled up the west coast to Vancouver with my childhood best friend to run a half marathon in August 2013.
I think the most amazing thing is having the courage to come live in in Madrid for the past four years when originally not knowing a single person.
I visited Egypt with my best friend this past march which was a blast!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you Spanish/English or how to cook a great pot of Mexican refried beans and rice!
