About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Becoming a real CouchSurfer.

ABOUT ME

Hello world. Let me give you some ideas about who I am. I'm 29, you can call me Bruce or Nghia. I'm sort of a half-extroverted and half-introverted person, but I'm quite easy-going, laid-back and bubbly in general.
I was born and brought up in Hanoi, but I moved to Saigon to experience a new life, a new environment with new friends and I'm kinda into the life down South Vietnam.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is short. Happy "can already".

Everything is changeable.

People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don't even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child -- our own two eyes. All is a miracle - Thich Nhat Hanh.

When you plant lettuce, if it does not grow well, you don't blame the lettuce. You look for reasons it is not doing well. It may need fertilizer, or more water, or less sun. You never blame the lettuce. Yet if we have problems with our friends or family, we blame the other person. But if we know how to take care of them, they will grow well, like the lettuce. Blaming has no positive effect at all, nor does trying to persuade using reason and argument. That is my experience. No blame, no reasoning, no argument, just understanding. If you understand, and you show that you understand, you can love, and the situation will change - Thich Nhat Hanh.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I can't be able to host at the moment because of some reasons, only surf perhaps. However, I am happy to host a meeting called "Saigon Weekly Meet-up" every Saturday night to meet and connect people from all over the world traveling in and around Saigon. I cannot count how many people have attended the event but it has always been really fun. I do learn and share many things with those awesome guys, from diverse languages and cultures to various perspectives on life. It's crazily awesome I think.

If you every come to Saigon and wanna have fun with real local people, just come to our meet-up and rock with us ;)

Interests

Like everyone else, I want to explore the world as well as experience the culture in every country in this globe. Hence I quit my job and have been traveling a little for a while.
Besides, I do love learning languages, reading books, listening to various types of music, helping people, meeting new friends, doing sports (once in a while) or just sleeping the entire day (that is the other side of me).

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Horror, Comedy, Action, Kungfu...
Music: Rap, Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, Rock Ballad, Country, Reggae, Classic, Rock and Roll, Blue.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing things I have ever done was going through a dark path in a secluded island at midnight trying to get to the beach where there were no neon lights, no people. Only moonlight, star light and sounds of nonstop waves from the sea. It's was a little bit scary but freaking cool as well. I love that.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Not sure If I can teach you much, but I can show you how to be simple and heartfelt.
Learn: If anyone can teach me something, I'd love to learn it.
Share: Um... Scroll down a little bit, you will see what I can share with people ;)
