To help those that wish to help themselves, but don't always know how. And in so doing, help myself to find out how to be more than I was.

ABOUT ME

You can get a pretty good idea of who I am from the rest of what I've written. I can get pretty deep, but I love a good party, getting drunk, having fun and being just like everyone else sometimes.

PHILOSOPHY

We are insignificant in the universal scheme of things, yet we have a choice to be significant in our own right and in our own environment by living in a manner that may inspire others to be and to do better.
The right choice is rarely the easy one. Can you make it?

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I find that couchsurfing brings a more intimate experience to any travel.
I spent a week in Melbourne Aus in 2001 and didn't much care for it, even though, of the travellers I was with, one was my best friend and she and her other roomies, including her boyfriend at the time had been there for a couple of months.
I spent a week in Melbourne again in 2005 with a buddy and his flatmate surfing and had the time of my life!
Whenever I can, it's now the way to stay.

Interessen

Sports, being active, good food, drink, company, academics, politics, sustainability. So many things, just start talking to me. It would be easier in English, but then it wouldn't be as much of a challenge!

Science fact, science fiction, cooking, behavioural psychology written for the public.
Almost anything music-wise as long as it's good. Usually not Pop music, but it gets me going sometimes.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I still have to remind myself that my successes in life always come from being able to do whatever I want.
Walking away from a successful business and an academic career to travel are things that my friends are envious of, but I never bothered with a mortgage or car payments (or at least didn't care for it enough to chain myself to them... yet), so I think that that's pretty amazing for most people, being able to not bother with the Jones'.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I believe in a concept I termed Global Holistic Health.
Essentially it is a view of the world and it's interconnectedness. One cannot live without the world, but it can live without us individually, or even as a species. If you're searching for something great, she's under your feet every step you make, and becomes a part of you with every breath you take.

The whole is indeed greater than the sum of it's parts.
