Overview
About Me
My name is Drew. I am 28 year old female: artist, dreamer, radical thinker and lover of all things bold, courageous, spirited, and wild...
For the past 2 years I have been training in a contemporary dance form with, most formally, Congolese/french dance pioneer Zab Maboungou. I have also been studying Haitian culture, the musicality and intelligence of African Rhythm/Language, drumming (Conga, and Haitan) and cultural, social, spiritual and political theories and realities of the African experience.
I have been living in the heat and heart of the city (Montréal) in order to pursue this form, - its corresponding ethics - my passion for dance, musicality, cultural resiliency, remembrance, gesture, form and the invisible impulse, relationship to the living world and thusly, my passion for healing...
Before this, I had spent 7 years traveling by train, boat, bus, foot and beyond, through Canada and abroad. I'd taken to the road very young and went wandering for a very long time.
Travel is calling me back home, as is the West Coast! (My very first destination at the tender age of 16!)
This summer, 2015, I want to backpack around the province of BC. I am finishing my 2year training program - both amazed and broken down - and am ready to nourish my spirit by wild lands and waters. It's a good time to put my foot fresh and affirmed onto the next pages of my life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
