About Me

Hello!

My name is Kris, I'm a 28-year-old French Canadian PhD student and teacher of French as second language, currently living in Toronto. I'm fascinated by different cultures and all that they encompass - from politics to history, from arts to food, from traditions to psychology, and everything in-between. Learning languages is something I've dedicated my life to, so I'm always looking for partners to practice!

Within me is the constant clash between my demure, nerdy, artsy side; and my sociable, fearless, experience-seeking side. I'm full of love, open-minded and never judge one bit (and expect the same from people).

I'm a cis gay man and I'm hoping this is not any problem for eventual hosts! I'm staunchly anti-racism, anti-sexism, anti-transphobia, anti-ageism, anti-ableism (oof, that's a lot of antis!), and body-positive. :) I love people, nature, animals, cultures, identities.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel and meet with all sorts of people! I truly enjoy connecting with people, whether they're ephemeral, temporary connections, or deep, long-lasting friendships.

I used to backpack quite a lot (through Europe and South-East Asia) and stayed in youth hostels most of the times, which is great to meet all sorts of travelers, but unfortunately it often lacks the contact with locals that is sometimes a wonderful part of traveling. So I'm hoping, in the future, to get to build connections with locals -- I'm definitely not overbearing though, and can be completely happy keeping to myself if you're busy!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In terms of travels, I spent a day on a desert island in Portugal. I have no words to describe how it was.
In terms of professional achievements, I taught French for one year in Germany.
Also, my beautiful Cocker Spaniel is my greatest love and pride!

What I Can Share with Hosts

-I'm always happy to give some French lessons.
-I love to share stories, to listen and offer empathy, care and support.
-I can also help with cleaning and such. I can help with cooking, but I'm quite bad at it, to be honest.
-If you take me to a local pub or microbrewery, I will definitely buy you a drink!
