Über mich
Born and raised in a Romania that is still trying to shed off the last communism relics. I grew up in a small city and I've always had big dreams of traveling and see the world. Moved away in 2009 to start my studies and I have lived in Spain and the Netherlands so far.
I have recently embarked on a different sort of adventure, with it's perks and quirks: grad school at Houston University. I am studying Social psychology and trying to be social in my spare time :).
Whether I can host or not depends on my living situation. I am still transitioning and pretty low on furniture and amenities. But I would gladly meet for a coffee and give you some tips about music venues, where to bike in the city, vegan/vegetarian restaurants and the best places to move your body in salsa rhythms. I can also join you to the climbing wall, I am learning how to stay on top of that.
Plans for the future include learning jazz and swing dance, finding a band to do some live music with (I can sing enough to make up for the lack of ability to play any instruments), going from pescatarian to vegetarian, getting that PhD. This is not an exshaustive list, please consult me for updates.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
I love discovering places, submerging in the culture (and language, if possible) and being as geeky as I can with facts and figures about those places. And when that is not possible, meeting world travelers from other places and bringing their stories to my home makes up for it.
Interessen
The more I experience and learn, the more does my list of interests expand. I am as comfortable at home watching a documentary on marine life as I am backpacking through a remote island and doing scuba diving.
I am in awe at the beauty in nature and as equally impressed by the human made technological gadgets. I love to sing and to discover music. I love to cook. I cannot read only one book at a time - I sometimes blend novels with scientific books.
I am totally capable of surviving on bananas. But there's so much good vegetarian food in the world.
I care about where my food and most of the things I consume come from. How much disposable material is there? Did this hinder the environment when it was made? It's a bot annoying for those who don't understand how great of an impact each and every decision we make as consumer can bear on the future of the planet.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
1. During a snorkeling trip at the Red Sea in Egypt, I jumped off the boat right in the middle of a dolphin gathering. They were all fun and extremely sociable, and we've exchanged curious gazes at each other for a while. I cried of happiness and carried the rush of that moment throughout the remainder of my trip.
