About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore the world in all its beauty.

ABOUT ME
***Please read my couch description!!! I can only host people that have a vehicle like a van or RV in which to stay***

I grew up on the Lost Coast of Northern California wandering the redwoods, swimming in the rivers, and playing on the beaches. Now I'm in the Sonoran desert driving dirt roads, dancing among saguaro, always in search of that secret swimming hole.

I love to laugh at myself and know when to stop being so serious. I think this is one of the most important things in life.

Right now I work at an equine therapy ranch in the funky bordertown of Arivaca, AZ with teenage boys who are dealing with behavioral health issues such as trauma, substance abuse, grief, and attachment disorders. It is challenging but on the occasion it is extremely rewarding.

PHILOSOPHY

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For gorgeous hair, let a child run his fingers through it everyday. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry. For poise, walk with the knowledge that you will never be alone. -Audrey Hepburn

Be Here Now.

I am a firm believer that no matter what happens in your life, good, bad, sad, awful, brilliant, etc., it all makes you who you are, so even if something seems bad, you can always learn from it and make yourself a better person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Im excited to be able to meet people along my travels who can show me what makes the cities around the world so different and so great in their own ways. After all, it is really the people who make a place so special.

I have gone through phases of being able to host and I really enjoy getting to do that when my circumstances allow for it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
It might sound weird to some people, but I've felt safe traveling alone as a young woman because of Couchsurfing.org

I joined couch surfing when I was 20 because I decided to travel by myself for 3 months around Europe. People said I was crazy. I can't imagine having done it any other way. It gave me the confidence that there really are good people wherever you go, that the world can be kind to the traveling stranger.

Since then I've made life long friends from both hosting and surfing over the years and shared more priceless adventures than I could count.

Couch surfing makes me feel like I never travel alone, that there was always a friend looking out for me at my next stop. It provides a community throughout the world for me to be a part of.

Interests

Hiking, especially with my dog.
Exploring new places, meeting new people along the way.
Navigating back roads with atlases and leaving the GPS at home.
Lying in green grass, watching the clouds.
Picnics.
Camping.
Swimming in rivers, lakes, and oceans.
Staying up late because I've found people I don't want to stop talking to.

Eating food with strangers. I love how food can bring people together and create common ground between those who otherwise might not speak to each other.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Nearly all of the most amazing adventures in my life were because this app connected me, not to strangers, but to friends I hadn't met yet.
I lived in a hut by the sea on the Isle of Mull in Scotland for six months at an outdoors center for underprivileged youth. The wild west of Scotland will always have my heart.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've been making photos and working in darkrooms for the last 15 years. I'll show you how to load and work that old film camera you bought from the thrift store if you show me your favorite fancy filter for photoshop!

Or we can put my BFA to good use and have long conversations into the night about what makes art, art.

I love board, card, and word games. Teach me your favorite!

I love hiking and am always up for exploring places, new and familiar, with company or without.
