ABOUT ME

I'm an ambivert in that I love good company but I also like my own. I see beauty in small things and find the awareness of life a wonder (as well as the lack of awareness in some!). I'm just finishing an MA in Environmental Humanities and love being close to all things natural. A coward who likes living life on the edge, a traveler who loves finding a niche, a calm sensitive who needs a bit of chaos every now and again.

Some things I like: friends who give proper warm hugs (but not in a creepy way), conversations that flow and connect all the crazy things in this world, people-watching on foreign sidewalks where old men still gather in cafes, dancing, fireflies in blackouts, strong, kind people, open roads on motorbikes, stumbling across kindred spirits.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

If I am honest I haven't been active on here for a while. I started to use Air bnb if I was away. But CS crossed my mind the other day and I realised how many lovely encounters I have had through this platform. And just how rare it is in a world which generally tries to 'sell' experiences of all kinds.

I don't have anywhere for people to stay unfortunately. I am living in shared houses. But when I eventually get my own place I would love to be able to host people. So at present, all I can offer is my company I'm afraid. As well as my small contribution to keeping arenas and spaces like this for connection alive.

Books~ The Prophet, I and Thou, Becoming Animal, Rumi....my favourites can change quite a lot but these tend to appear quite frequently.

Musicians I like at the moment include Birdy, First Aid Kit and The Tallest Man on Earth, Mumford and Sons, Nakho Bear.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Snorkelled with about 20 hammerheads...bit of a surprise, may have preferred turtles, was ridiculously afraid but still... wish I had a picture.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm an English teacher so can help with language and pronunciation and would love to learn guitar or the amazing hang drum. I am also an environmental humanities student so sharing knowledge and experience of how we connect with this beautiful planet is welcome.
