About Me

CURRENT MISSION

learn something worthwhile

ABOUT ME

I am a collector of people. The interesting ones are the ones I keep, but I save something about everyone I meet in an attempt to learn another facet of this complicated creature we have evolved into.

"It's no fun to be yellow. Maybe I'm not all yellow. I don't know. I think maybe I'm just partly yellow and partly the type that doesn't give much of a damn if they lose their gloves."

PHILOSOPHY

"When you feel in your gut what you are and then dynamically pursue it - don't back down and don't give up - then you're going to mystify a lot of folks."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would love to give couch surfing a try from both angles

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet, but I am thrilled from the idea of it.

Interests

I love being outside of my comfort zone. I love doing things by myself and talking to strangers. I read alot, and write some, too. I plan on eventually getting a degree in anthropology, but put school on hold when I realized that I am nowhere near being ready to settle into college and apply myself. Language is my random passion, as well as the other studies of culture, including archeology and especially interaction with people of all varieties. I'm all about being outside, and not the suburban version, either. I live to rusticate, and hate this modern dependence on all things electric even as I am dependent. Music is my language of choice.
"I felt like lying down by the side of the trail and remembering it all. The woods do that to you, they always look familiar, long lost, like the face of a long-dead relative, like an old dream, like a piece of forgotten song drifting across the water, most of all like golden eternities of past childhood or past manhood and all the living and the dying and the heartbreak that went on a million years ago and the clouds as they pass overhead seem to testify (by their own lonesome familiarity) to this feeling."

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Any. I read like I breath. Jack Kerouac and Jack London speak my soul.
Music: My music taste is varied, depending on my mood. Some favorites: Billie Holiday, Tommy James, Devendra Banhart, Animal Collective, Great Lake Swimmers, Andrew Bird, The Doors, My Morning Jacket.. I can't really list things well, I tend to get bored but basically I like music with passion or intelligence or both or any music, really.
Movies: Take em as the come, my preference is a well written story line that makes me think.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once saw a black bear wave back at me. I once had an encounter with an orphaned moose on a very small trail and looked him right in the eyes before we both ran our respective ways. I once watched a rainbow move across the deepest freshwater body in the world. I once saw a meteor come down to earth and light the whole winter night up green. I once found the fountain of youth in the base of a tree while living a fairytale and left it, coming to the conclusion that eternity is not for everyone.

"Goddam money. It always ends up making you blue as hell. "
