>>> Traveling until 17 September, therefore not able to host for now <<<
CURRENT MISSION
Saving the world, travel as much and as far as I can, inspiring others to live a sustainable life and observe funny animals in their natural habitat. Living in harmony with nature. Be happy. And support others with their journey.
ABOUT ME
Besides making the world a better place, one of my life goals is to travel around the world and see and learn as much as I can about all the different cultures. I would love to discover all the beauty this planet has to offer. Of course I like to go on city trips, but I love 'going into the wild' surrounding myself with nature, hiking through a rainforest, meditating on top of a mountain and (free) camping. My love for nature and the environment is also one of the reasons why I work in this field. There is no planet B.
Since a young age I've been fascinated by the way indigenous people and nomads live. They're much more in harmony with nature. I think that is what lacks in our society, we don't know how to live without depending on plastic, technology and luxury anymore.
I am from Amsterdam (yes, the best city in the world) and I've lived in Manchester and London (UK), California (US), Pisac (Peru), Antigua (Guatemala) and at a farm in Israel where I met my partner. I've traveled for 3 years straight and recently stopped traveling (for now) to move back to Europe and dedicate my time to climate activism and happiness.
PHILOSOPHY
As Bob Marley used to say 'Love the life you live, live the life you love'. I couldn't agree more and this is one of the things I always try to remember.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have couchsurfed in France, Belgium, UK, Italy, Spain, Brazil and Austria and I returned the favour when I lived in Manchester, London and in my hometown Amsterdam. I love making new friends & connections by hosting people, sharing dinner and showing them around town. I love meeting people and sharing stories.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
The summer of 2013 I went hitchhiking around Europe and I had the time of my life. My friend (with whom I went hitchhiking) and I couchsurfed a lot, not only via the website, we also 'spontaneously' couchsurfed at the homes of people we met during our trip. It truly has been a great experience. And it was crazy as shit as well. Damn!
In 2013/14 I hosted people in Manchester and London. In 2016 I went with my friend to Brazil, where we couchsurfed again!
One to remember:
“If you’re twenty-two, physically fit, hungry to learn and be better, I urge you to travel – as far and as widely as possible. Sleep on floors if you have to. Find out how other people live and eat and cook. Learn from them – wherever you go.” - Anthony Bourdain

Music, Movies, and Books

I especially like indie, folk, techno/house, reggae, soul, hip hop, psy trance, jazz and samba.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have this small Moleskine notebook in which I write all the highlights I've experienced during the year. At the end of every year I can read it back and smile because I am so blessed with all the nice lifetime events of that year.
For example: I went hitchhiking around Europe (11 countries!) in 2013, I lived a year in Manchester and London in 2013/2014, joined a samba band and met so many interesting people. End of 2014 I moved back to Amsterdam, where I got an internship at Greenpeace Netherlands which was a great opportunity. In 2015 I got a (temporary) job at Greenpeace International, so I'm going to try and save as much as I can, so I can finally make that trip around the world!
Let's wait and see what more amazing things will come!
UPDATE 2016: I just quit my job and I'm going to travel the world! First stop: Burning Man USA, then I'll go to Central and South America! Exciting!!!
UPDATE 2019:
Wooops I traveled for 3 years and loved it! Currently back in Amsterdam.
Teach, Learn, Share
I write inspirational quotes from philosphers, adventure seekers, characters out of books, or people who I've met in a notebook. I love to pick it up once in a while and read it through. I can recommend everyone to keep his/her own 'book of inspiration'.
What I Can Share with Hosts
- I can make you a lovely (vegan) dinner!
- (travel) stories
- I love having interesting discussions about any topic (music, environmentalism, society, feminism, cultures, traveling)
