Sobre mí

UPDATE: I need to update this entire profile, but we are now back in Seattle getting back to normal life and getting married in September. We fly to Geneva September 20th and will travel in Switzerland, Germany and Italy for one month. Looking for some new friends along the way and to experience the real culture, not so much touristy stuff (some of which we want to do and will be unavoidable). Thanks for taking a look!

This is in fact my (Mallori's) profile. However, Josh and I are traveling together - so I figured it would be easiest to have all of our information in one place - this way you can get to know us both before accepting our request!

WHO WE ARE:
Mallori and Josh! Two Pacific Northwest (think Seattle) born and raised adventurers heading out on a South American journey! We are open to wherever the wind takes us with no real time line. This is something each of us have dreamed of doing, but never really thought we 'could'. Everything aligned properly and we are ready for what lies ahead.

We fly to Lima October 22nd and that is where our journey begins. From there we will head to Cusco, do the Salkantay, Ausangate and Lares Trek before heading to the Sacred Valley where we will stay through the end of the year. We are both excited to have no real time line and plan as we go. We are looking for work stays, volunteer opportunities, we will utilize CouchSurfing, Airbnb, hostels and stay in our tent when we can. We are excited to hit the trail with some money in the bank, our backpacks and boletos, opens minds and adventurous spirits.

Mallori:
I am the most awesome 30(ish) year old you will ever meet. At least Josh thinks so. I am an outgoing, friendly, adventurous, resourceful, connector looking to experience all of the people and places I can while on this adventure. In Seattle, I work in marketing by day and enjoy hiking, backpacking, running, working out, baking, cooking, painting, reading, watching movies, live music by night. I consider myself brave, but I also cry when happy, sad, mad, scared and nervous. I love when life is Easy Like a Sunday Morning. I love sipping a morning cuppa Joe and have purchased Starbucks more than I would like to admit. If I am reviewing products on this blog or telling you a story, please don’t expect it to be very detailed or even make sense. I try. I will not remember the material in which my Mountain Hardwear Rain Jacket is made of, but I will tell you it is awesome, the rain totally beads right off of it and I didn’t get wet. That’s all you really need to know anyways, right? My life has been a crazy ride and I look forward to what’s to come.

Josh:
A simple kind of man. I’m 29 with a outgoing and competitive spirit. I absolutely love sports and a challenge. For the last seven years I have been in the commercial construction industry as a carpenter. I have had fun and learned a ton, but not exactly sure if it’s the thing for me. That’s what inspired this trip really. I constantly found myself thinking about adventure and what else is out in the big World. The cool thing is that construction is everywhere and the hammer and nail don’t differ from one country to the next. I’m super siked for the adventure I’m about to embark on. I mean … to leave my job, sell both cars and my condo to run off to a country that I have never been nor speak the native tongue sounds pretty crazy, right? Exactly. That exact feeling is what is drving me. I’m just fortunate enough to not have to do it alone. When I asked Mallori what she thought and if she would ever consider, she was right there with me. When works over I typically do a good job of staying active from riding my bikes, to after work hikes, lifting weights or playing in basketball leagues. I’m a big family guy. I love my folks dearly and anytime I get a chance to visit them and spend time with their dogs I’m one happy camper. I enjoy helping people and getting them headed in the right direction with health and fitness. Smile lots, live it up, and surround yourself with people and things that make you happy.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Mallori:
I lived in Los Angeles a few years back and that is when I got into couchsurfing. I hosted/stayed a couple of times, but my more recent adventures have involved my backpack and tent so there has been no need to utilize couch surfing. I would love to meet new friends along our South American trip and hope that I can one day return the favor to those we meet.

Josh:
I am new to couchsurfing, but Mallori is the savvy traveler, so I trust her on this one. I am excited to see what it is all about and make some new friends.

Música, películas y libros

We both love music. Especially a road trip with some good music! Portugal the Man, Black Keys, Klingande, Pretty Lights, Wiz Khalifa, J Cole, ODESZA, Tom Petty, CCR andJohn Mellencampare just a few.

Mallori:
Eat Pray Love, WILD, It Starts with Food (I really don't read as much as I would like).
I like to fall asleep during movies.

Josh:
I recently picked up a mountaineering book from the thrift store and it has quickly become one of the best hiking/backpacking/mountaineering resources I have found.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

Mallori:
I am a jane of all trades and an expert at none. Which means I can provide you a lot of useless information, facts, ideas and itineraries. I am also really good at sweeping, doing dishes, laundry, entertaining children and adults and I can cook. Kind of.

Josh:
I am a carpenter by trade - so if you need something fixed I can lend a helping hand. I am hard worker and adventurer. Would love to share my backpacking, fishing, hiking and life stories with you.
