About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See it all, meet everyone, grow old and have a big garden.

ABOUT ME

I am a San Francisco native, and majored in Environmental Studies at Wellesley College (near Boston, MA.) Through my studies I have been given the opportunity to work with animals and plants across the world, doing research in Glacier National Park, Cape Cod, The Wet Tropics World Heritage Area in Australia, and some beautiful grasslands in Germany.

I lived in Seattle for 4 years, with five other roommates (six, if you include our cat), managing all the programs at a giant community center in the city (dancing, concerts, films, etc). However, in 2018, I moved across states to follow love and found myself in Madison. Now I work at a local nonprofit, focused on supporting small-scale, Wisconsin vegetable farmers.

When I'm not working you can find me running, biking, cultivating a new garden, doing various creative side hustles, or relaxing with a drink outside.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I will treat your home like it were mine and respect all spaces. I am currently trying to travel as much as possible, given my job/life restrictions.

I no longer share housing, so my ability to host is dependent primarily on my work/life schedule. I have a small hang out room/indoor jungle for you to crash in. In exchange I would love to hear your stories, sit back, enjoy a beer or wine and have a good time.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't done much 'official' couch surfing, aside from a (wonderful) night while traveling in Germany. However, I have found myself put up in some of the most interesting accommodations. From a farmhouse in Standorf Germany-population 15, and a traditional Moroccan home in the Old Medina of Rabat, to the beach in Queensland Australia, a short homestay in the mountains of central Italy, and numerous funky hostels all over the US, Puerto Rico, New Zealand, I think that this is the ultimate way to travel and experience a culture.

Interests

Enjoying the great outdoors, traveling and being uncomfortable, experiencing new cultures and familiarizing myself with old ones, meeting new people and going on adventures, drinking great beers, reading great books, cooking for myself, cooking for other people, making music (piano and guitar mostly), listening to music, taking too many photographs.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived in the Australian Rainforest for half a year, where nearly tripping over pythons and getting attacked by terrestrial leeches was a daily occurrence. However, in addition to the occasional nastiness, there was also the beauty of waking up every morning to a symphony of birds (the wompoo fruit dove, the chowchilla, and the whipbird), of climbing up giant strangler figs, of swimming in waterfalls, and learning the dynamics of such a beautiful place.

Teach, Learn, Share

"You can always find a negative assumption that allows you to believe the worst in people. Or you can give that person the benefit of the doubt and believe they have your best interests at heart...

You can’t always feel good. But you can choose to feel good more often, starting with the way you interpret the things people do."

What I Can Share with Hosts

A shared interest in exploring Madison! I'm new here too--though I have already discovered some favorite spots to grab bites and brews, tranquil bike paths to meander down, and fun spots to relax outside.

Also, La Croix and ice cream.
