About Me

A former backpacker, never in one place for long girl, reeled in by a Saskatchewan boy and turned into an overzealous hobby farmer.

I, Lauren, spent a number of years living, and travelling, before meeting my now-husband, Matt while working on a farm in Alberta. He had never travelled, but that quickly changed. His first trip overseas I had him meet me in Nepal (I was already abroad at the time), and we trekked to Mount Everest Base Camp together. For our honeymoon two years later, we spent 10 days carrying a tent and sleeping bags and completed the Tour du Mont Blanc. Now, we have two young boys (1.5, 3.5), who have been to Australia and England, with the older also having seen Germany.

My husband runs an electrical business, and I do a bit of everything. Formerly a butcher, I now work in long term care and am in school for nursing. I also am a beekeeper and run a small-scale thriving honey business.

Alongside the bees, we also have a few cows, a couple dogs, half a dozen goats, chickens (don't ask how many, because I can never round them all up together to get a head count), and a former bottle fed sheep who doesn't know his own size and thinks he is a lap dog. Our life is chaos, but we love it, and we would love to share that with you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have met some fantastic people through the CS community throughout my own travels. Now, somewhat settled down and travelling far less often than I wish to, I would love to use CS to host other travellers, keeping my cup of worldly stories full, and teaching my boys about the wonder of the world and all the amazing people it holds outside of our small town of 200 people.
