ABOUT ME

UPDATE: Just recently moved to my dream town of Homer, Alaska so I'm no longer in Southeast Alaska!

Grew up in northern Jersey and the streets of New York City until my mid twenties. I eventually got tired of that sort of abrasive, suit-wearing, materialistic, meaningless, rat- race lifestyle and one day decided to abort ship! Spent the next few years living all over this beautiful country, including Seattle and the Rockies in Colorado, enroute to finally fulfilling my childhood dream of living in the land of endless adventures... Alaska! So now I am currently living in Southeast Alaska, which is flat out AMAZING!!! Actually it's beyond amazing! Every day is a new adventure, and I cant get enough of all of the wildlife, mountaineering trips, glaciers, and vertical ice climbing right at my fingertips! I am bursting at the seams with wanderlust, and am always on the search for my next adrenaline fix, expedition, or new adventure . Live your life!

PHILOSOPHY

My motto is " Live your Life" which sounds so simple, yet so many people don't truly do it. There is a huge difference between "existing" and "living", and most of society seems to "just exist", never actually following THEIR dreams, and living THEIR life. You have to live life by your own terms, ignore the opinions of others of how you should be living your life, and stay curious until the day you die. Never take things for granted, any always be on the search for the next new experience. I also think the whole notion of age is a joke. I have met 20 year olds who are more responsible than some 50 year olds I know, and at the same time I have also met some 65 year olds who live a more adventurous and active life than some 25 year olds I know! Age is only a number, and the way you live your life gives it meaning.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Just trying to help out like-minded people do some travelling and appease their wanderlust! I love helping others experience things from the eyes of a " local", and my girlfriend and I truly enjoy sharing our passion of Alaska and life in general with others.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A bunch by now, both as a host and as a CSer. Each experience has certainly been unique and rewarding in their own ways! I used to use hostels all the time as well, which was always a blast, but now I am pretty much dedicated to this world of CSers.

Interessen

I'm VERY passionate about BEARS!!!! I am also the biggest bibliophile you will ever meet. No, seriously. OBSESSED. I also love adrenaline and... peanut butter, coffee, and cheese. I also thoroughly enjoy mountaineering, packrafting, exploring old mines and caves, ice climbing, wildlife, riding my Harley, meeting new people with new perspectives,wrestling alligators, going on treks into the wilderness, exploring glaciers, sky diving, Rubik's cubes, riding in small planes with a lot of turbulence, yeah the list could go on and on!!!! Did I mention BEARS?!?!?

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I love punk rock, Ska, country, independent films,documentaries, and like I said earlier I am obsessed with books, especially anything by Charles Bukowski. I also collect vinyl records and despise electronic books and the idea of buying music off of I-Tunes. I'm kinda old school in a lot of ways, and actually bind books by hand as well.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Wrestling an 11 foot alligator, skydiving over Moab, dog-sledding on a glacier, seeing grizzlies in the wild, exploring numerous glaciers, ice climbing on frozen waterfalls, climbing some bad ass mountains, catching a halibut, going on a paleontology dig in Utah and finding an Allosaurus tooth, I could go on and on. Every day is an amazing thing if you are doing it right!

We should be learning til the day we die, because the day you stop learning, you start dying mentally. There is also nothing better than sharing your passions with someone else who can appreciate it, and then see it in their eyes that you have had a positive influence on them for the rest of their life.
