About Me
CURRENT MISSION
No matter how far an ass travels, it won't come back a horse.
ABOUT ME
My name's Lars... I do enjoy a good laugh, perhaps over a beer and nice dinner. I've just given away or sold all my possessions in the USA and moved to Germany, though I'd never been to Europe before... As of writing this I've been here 2 days, am jet lagged, but having a great time!
PHILOSOPHY
Have you ever gone backpacking someplace beautiful with a large group of people? Every time they split into the people in the front, looking only at the ground in front of them, "powerhousing" the hike and hurrying to the destination.... the people in the middle, who aren't sure where they're going, but the guys in front do, so they are trying to keep up... and then there's the people in the back.... the rest of the hikers hate the goof-offs in the back. They stop and examine flowers, plants, and the interesting creatures along the way, and really take it all in. As they walk, their heads are tilted upwards looking to the treetops and mountains. They are laughing, and joking, but are always the last to reach camp. When it comes time to sleep, the goof-offs are loud and enjoying their time laughing with a couple of the middle folks who got bored, while the people in front are tired from a hard day, cranky, and just want to rest so they can reach the goal quickly tomorrow. At the end of the trip, the leaders are sometimes satisfied at their own prowess they showed on the trail, the middle people are still confused, and the people in back had the time of their life, each for their own unique reason. I strive to be in the group at the back... it applies to many more things than just walking through nature.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Always down to have a surfer around... and if myself and/or roomate aren't busy we are more than happy to take our guest out, or even help them cope with the language barrier, but of course without cutting in on the adventure. I am very knowledgeable of my city, and won't let anyone who isn't leave without at least one piece of advice. (I wrote this while living in Beijing, but it still applies.)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Have had so many great guests come and stay at my old apartment in Beijing. I have really enjoyed the diversity of surfers and hosts a lot. There's something about people willing to trust their safety to a stranger through this site that attracts only the most awesome and worldly people on earth.
Interests
lots of things... guitar, music, language, physics, beer, women, people watching, good movies, traveling (usually prefer lone travels), meeting locals of my destinations, drinking with locals of my travel spots, learning, teaching, listening, earning.... I have fairly eclectic interests. A jack of many trades and master of not a single one...
