About Me

Heya! My name is Livvy. Thanks for finding your way to me- I hope you are at peace and safely traveling the Earth with abundant love. I hope that we can meet in the middle with intention and mindfulness. The future of our world is important to me, and I am passionate about decentralized organizing and mutual aid through solidarity to fight the climate crisis, racial injustice, and the many forms of exploitation that manifest in our world. Relationships are the heartbeat to my life, and I am a very genuine, loving, and nurturing person. Consent and a trauma-informed approach to relating are also very important to me. I'm a farmer, a chef, an educator, a healer, and have many passions that involve movement, song, expression.

I've traveled around the world- Southeast Asia, Europe, the Caribbean... and am constantly seeking new perspectives and trying to break free of the conditioning within that leads to a settler/colonization mindset. I've bike toured in Sweden and Scotland, tasted fresh olive oil in Italy, walked the mountains of Taiwan, journeyed into the jungles of Laos, cooked in Ireland, farmed in different states in the US... and feel so grateful for the teachings I've received along this path. I would love to hear more about your travels and what you've learned along the way.

If you stay with me- I ask that you be mindful and communicate your needs with me. Personal autonomy is what I build in myself, and I will respect yours as well! I have natural medicines and healing foods, so any ailment you have I will be happy to provide nourishment and sustenance.

If I stay with you- I will be glad to offer my strength and able body to help around your space!! Especially if that's a farm- I got you! Any boundaries you set up, I will respect.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am very new to Couchsurfing, and hope that very soon I can be more active at both hosting and surfing!

I'm couch surfing because I deeply value building community through open dialogue, and welcoming people of all backgrounds into a new community. I love the idea of giving and receiving with generosity and abundance. Looking through different profiles is so inspiring, and makes me want to travel everywhere to meet all of the inspiring people behind the screens.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a generalist, and love a LOT of things!! It's hard to make up my mind since I do have a lot of interests, but here are a couple of things I love....

Movies: Black Panther, Arrival, The Hundred-Foot Journey, Chocolat

Books: A Memory of Water, Homegoing, The 40 Rules of Love, anything Rumi

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've gone bungee jumping in Northern Thailand and lived to tell the tale. One of the scariest things I've ever done.

I also survived cooking school in Ireland at a magical place called Ballymaloe Cookery School -- okay, I guess it wasn't THAT hard since it was on an organic farm and we ate amazing food! Nonetheless, it was definitely a big step for me since I was away from home for 3 months in another country!

AND one last thing I survived this past spring -- I received a grant to put on a FREE, totally locally-sourced meal for JMU students, faculty, and staff and community members of the Harrisonburg area. We had over 120 people attend, and it was an amazing evening of farmers and community champions sharing their passions and visions for a sustainable food system. I've never had to communicate with so many people and figure out logistics for literally EVERYTHING that goes into making an event happen. In the end, it was absolutely incredible though :).

Teach, Learn, Share

Love to teach anything I know -- various languages, cooking (especially experimental stuff that's vegan, low sugar, gluten-free, etc), chemistry, songs, movement practices like yoga... etc.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share good music, and a helping hand in the kitchen! I love to cook, clean, do yardwork/garden too!! One of my greatest pleasures is contributing to someone's wellbeing.
