About Me
Hello!
Let me introduce myself as Liz; originally from England, with Chinese roots (my mother comes from Hong Kong). I grew up and studied in the UK, and my family still live there, but I left in 2013 for the Netherlands. I mainly worked there as a Team Leader, which had aspects of system development, training, recruiting and payroll. I also worked in an Irish pub for 5 years which was really fun and allowed me to meet expats from all over the world.
I have been a fan of travelling since I first took a trip by myself aged 17. I love cooking and eating good food, but in recent years I have also learned to eat more healthily and keep fit. I enjoy yoga, swimming, running and functional training type exercise (basically when someone shouts at me to work out harder!)
I met my boyfriend, Lee, in 2017 after we met at work. He's the creative and funny type, I'm the conscientious and logical type. But we both consider ourselves to be passionate, open-minded and explorers of new cultures.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've signed up on Couchsurfing because as of February 2020, myself and Lee have embarked on a long-term adventure around Asia. Even though we had quite a good life in the Netherlands, we felt slightly stuck in our office jobs, so we sold up and left our lives there in order to learn more about the world and ourselves.
I have quite a bit of travelling experience, not just with others but also by myself, but am a Couchsurfing newbie! We tried to save up as much as possible so that we can travel the world for at least a few years. That being said, we are bearing our budget in mind and hope to reduce our spending whenever possible [whilst still getting to enjoy the places we visit]. Couchsurfing would be ideal for us in that aspect!
Not only that, but we are not the type to wander around aimlessly all the time; we would much rather get to know the locals and explore places where the locals go. This is more and more important to us as we love an authentic experience and not just to follow the regular tourist paths!
I would be very grateful for a few night's stay, and am happy to payback your kindness with my services.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have just been introduced to the world of scuba diving, having completed Open Water courses in Koh Tao, Thailand.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have recently completed my TEFL course but have not yet had the chance to embark on a teaching path since finishing my job in the Netherlands. I would love to be able to practice teaching English through Couchsurfing and other voluteering opportunities.
Although I have visited a number of countries, there is so much that I have not experienced. I hope to learn more about the different cultures in the countries we visit. E.g. local jaunts, cooking styles, and traditions. We recently celebrated Holi in Kolkata with a local community and that was much more insightful for us.
The same is true from my side too if you are interested in European culture. I'm also happy to join in together with activities such as hiking, running, eating out, and cooking.
What I Can Share with Hosts
We hope to find people on Couchsurfing who can offer us a comfy night's sleep and tell (or show us) more about the city they live in. We are reliable and considerate guests, who can give you good company and offer some of our services in return, such as cooking, cleaning and looking after kids/pets.
