About Me

Hi! My name is Elizabeth Casey. I'm 24 years old and a Graduate student at Boston College. I graduated from BC with a BA in History in 2012 and am expecting to graduate with an MSW in May 2015.
I'm from Buffalo, NY and I love to go home and visit. I love watching the Sabres and Bills.
I have family all over the country and traveling to see them is where my passion for traveling began.
After school I am hoping to move to Tucson, AZ where I have an aunt, uncle, and four cousins in order to work at an NGO or other type of Social Work organization near the border.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love traveling and as I'm finishing school I plan on traveling a lot more. My goal is to visit at least one new place a year.
In high school I had the chance to stay with a foreign exchange student in Spain.
As an undergraduate I traveled to Mexico.
This past summer I traveled to Italy (Venice, Verona, Florence, Milan, and Rome). This upcoming summer I am planning on attending a training course for social work in Israel and then taking a vacation to Alaska.
I believe that the best way to get to know a place and it's culture is to interact with someone who is local, which is why I think couchsurfing is such an amazing opportunity.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2012 I was part of a group of undergraduate students who traveled to Mexico. We were given the opportunity to stay in a small rural village, Amatlan. I stayed with a woman named Graciella and her elderly mother. She taught me how to make corn tortillas from scratch and we were able to help one of the local women pick corn from her field.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can possibly teach some Spanish (took Spanish for 12 years but hoping to become fluent by moving to Tucson next year).
I can teach people how to make Christmas cookies.
I would like to learn more about like outdoors, like fishing, more about camping...
I love learning new language.

I am willing to help out with whatever a host may need. I am reliable, responsible, and courteous.
