About Me

Probably the only tattooed rock journalist turned hippy working as a religious correspondent for a national newspaper and a craft beer blog simultaneously. I'm as hyperactive (I run, swim and ... er, yoga) as I am gloriously inactive (I love chilling out with a good beer or a glass of wine, session-ing video games and sci-fi/horror binging).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm a penniless journalist who dreams too big for their budget, in that I want to go everywhere and see everything but I also have to pay extortionate rent.

Interests

- FOOD and drink... I'm a vegan but I don't go on about it, unless you give me even the slightest prompting
- Yoga and meditation
- Nice booze
- Travelling with absolutely nothing but the smallest backpack I can find
- Going to grocery shops in far-flung places

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 15 I saved up all my pocket money and ran away to Glasgow to meet the Dalai Lama, who gave me a dried flower. I can't remember why he was in Glasgow but this definitely happened and wasn't a dream.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach - I have mad vegan/plant-based cooking skills and can show you how to make anything from a black bean brownie to a six-course Szechuan banquet
- I could give you pointers on how to start a mindfulness meditation practice

Learn - Any kind of yoga, tai chi or similar. Or languages, or regional cooking/drinking skills!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Maddening ability to talk non-stop about current affairs, philosophy, theology and food. Reckless enthusiasm and easily entertained, eg. if you have an interesting supermarket nearby.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Morocco, Netherlands, Scotland, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Uganda, Wales

Countries I’ve Lived In

England
