About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Making a home in as many different countries as possible!

ABOUT ME

Sadly, I have moved on from my teaching in Beijing and have now moved to Melbourne, Australia.

Even though this country speaks English (what a relief!) I'm having a great time trying to suss out the crazy culture of Australia. Still can't get used to all the slang and abbreviations they throw around, and don't even ask me what the rules of footy are.

Right now, I'm just trying to drink as much coffee and eat as much breakfast that Melbourne has to offer while counter-balancing all that consuming with heaps of Bikram Yoga! Lock the knee!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only recently gotten into CouchSurfing, but all the experiences I've had watching my friends CouchSurf have been super positive and inspiring, it makes me want to get involved and join the community!

I think one of the best experiences I've had with couchsurfing was staying in the philippines and learning to surf from some locals on a private beach. I could have never done this after looking things up on tripadvisor, nor would I have met the amazing people that I did. It's all about connections and sharing what you can with the people around you and that's what I really appreciate about all my many couchsurfing experiences.

Interests

I love...reading, travelling, beaching, watching tv and movies, doing yoga (especially Bikram - lock the knee!), concerts, coffee, wine (especially of the BC variety), picnics, teaching, learning, beer (Granville Island WInter Ale!), learning languages (I'm obsessed with chinese characters), listening to music, surfing the web for random information, dancing, singing, KTV, baking and cooking (though I'm not as good as I think!), making crafts, camping (but not roughing it haha), patios, unexpected all nighters, brunch (especially in NYC), viewpoints of each and every city I visit, the wonders of the world (pyramids and great wall check!) and the list goes on!

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite book is East of Eden by John Steinbeck. Early 20th century American literature is my absolute fav - Hemingway or Fitzgerald anyone? I am very influenced by movies, music and books and (generally) don't discriminate - I'll read, listen and watch it all.
I'm currently trying to absorb as much as I can about China and have read a million books about this fascinating and contradictory (at times) country.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My life revolves around teaching and those rascal kids I have everyday so I have to say that I see amazing things happening all the time. It is the best feeling in the world to get through to them and see them take what you have given them and run with it!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Cambodia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, Monaco, Norway, Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, Vatican City State, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
