About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finishing out a teaching contract in South Korea before setting out on some travels this fall!

ABOUT ME

I'm a curious person and love meeting new people and hearing their stories. I'm serious and practical about important things, but I see the humor in life and laugh easily and often. I'm also terrible at writing things about myself!

PHILOSOPHY

"Mötas och skiljas är livets gång, skiljas och mötas är hoppets sång"
(To meet and part is the way life goes, to part and meet is the song of hope)

Especially true of the life of a sentimental traveller!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I created a CS profile when I was living abroad in Sweden, but haven't used it at all since. I'm hoping to use it as a way to connect to people on my travels in Japan and SE Asia this fall. When I return to the US and have a more permanent couch, I'd love to share my city by hosting as well!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I attended several CS meet-ups when I lived in Sweden, but never really put this site to good use. I hope to remedy that, however, as I've seen how lasting CS connections can be. Last summer, I was in Berlin on an exchange and one of my friends in the program invited me out with her one night. Turns out we were going to a birthday party for a German friend she had hosted in Minneapolis...some 4 years previously! They hadn't seen each other since, but kept in touch, and as a result, I was able to make a new friend as well as see how well Germans can put on a party!

Interests

Travel, travel, travel, of course! Sometimes a book is just as good as a trip, though, so after travelling, my favorite activity is probably browsing shelves. I'm also passionate about music, I love going to shows and enjoy singing and learning to play the guitar. I've always loved learning other languages and in the past few years have also become really interested in the teaching of them as well. I am also hoping to help spread the Swedish tradition of fika to the world.
