Overview
About Me
Hey! I am Liza, future art manager-artist-filmmaker-yet-not-quite-understandable-who, but with a pleasant temper, quite a cheerful character and an adequate set of bad habits :) I like to touch plants, walk a lot and sincere people. Affected by melancholy in the absence of the sun, saving myself with books and dry wine in companies.
For the last 3 years I've been studying fine art in Moscow and ArtScience (new media art) in The Hague, worked as a curator assistant at the international fair of contemporary art and am a part of the team organising print-markets in Moscow (silkscreen printing, risograph and so on). I made some artworks as well: a video work on possibilities of the relationship between human and nature and a sound composition out of field recordings. Some time ago I found myself quite interested in film, so now I'm delving into this. So yeah, the whole bunch of everything! I'm just very curious about the world around and would love to gain more from other people.
And I am a big forest lover!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm in a constant search of new experiences and interesting encounters, though I haven't tried Couchsurfing before as always had friends in places I go and just stayed with them. This time is a bit different, I'm going to London for a couple of days to walk the streets and visit several exhibitions, but all my friends are away so I decided to try Couchsurfing and get to know some new amazing people! Will be very happy to share my energy with you!

Music, Movies, and Books
Books
I enjoy reading a lot, especially some melancholic slow-pace books such as Austerlitz by Sebald which happened to be a great discovery this summer! For quite a long time I gave preference to essays and diaries by Susan Sontag and some trip notes, 'Wanderlust' by Rebecca Solnit which is a history of walking was pretty nice Moscow diary by Walter Benjamin was really good! I'm reading 'Night' by Edna O'Brien now and some other books about sound art and curatorial practices.
Music
Dean Blunt is amazing, especially 'The Narcissist' song!
'Cigarettes after sex' for an atmospheric evening, Olafur Arnalds for a slow morning time.
But I'm open to any kind of music really.
As for the films, the one just came to my mind - 'Palermo shooting' which I enjoyed a lot.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can tell you about some cool collectives working with audio-visuals and electronic art and share my experience from some of the new media art festivals happening in the Netherlands! Also, I can tell you about Moscow and how it's rapidly changing, how culture develops despite the tense political situation in the country.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would love to contribute and share a dinner with my host, but if you don't feel very optimistic about it, its fine too, we can just have a talk in the morning during a cup of tea/coffee or a little walk I the city (it would be really nice!).
