ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in Rutland, VT. I lived in the same house for 20 years. Following that I lived in Connecticut for one year while I went to The Loomis-Chaffee School (boarding school). I graduated from Utica College in 2011, but haven't left the area. I currently live in Utica, NY, where I now work. I'm a grad student. I played hockey, but now I coach for a DIII college. I like to go out. I like to listen to live music. I like to have friends around. I love to travel. I have driven across the US (east to west and north to south). I have backpacked through Europe. I have slept on a lot of couches (and trains and buses and ferries). I now just drive a lot to watch hockey games ... I enjoy traveling and travel stories.

PHILOSOPHY

Perseverance. Adventure. Listen more than you talk - everyone has more experience in something than you do. Take calculated risks. Depend on your friends and family... if you ever feel unsafe, there's no shame in walking (driving, running) away and laughing about it later.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just heard about couchsurfing from one of my roommates who informed me that she had signed up for it earlier that day, and that we had a couch request for the next night. I checked it out and quickly realized the site was AWESOME! ... Ever since our first visitor, I've been telling everyone I know about this site. I LOVE IT. What a concept!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have only hosted a few surfers... The 1st being a young (and incredibly awesome guy) who was walking across the country. I (along with my college roommates) traveled to Tennessee and stayed with a great group in Memphis and then an even more awesome guy in Nashville. We had plans to move on to other hosts, but stayed with him for 3 nights - until we had to drive back to NY for the birth of a niece. We have even had a few visit us after we had hosted them... CS friends are some of the best!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

... Waking up out of a dead sleep on a bench next to the Adriatic Sea, to one of my best friends telling me to get into a big, white, unmarked van... I was tired, so I took the plunge and it ended up well...
