Overview
About Me
I aspire to grow, raise, forage for, and prepare my own food as much as possible.
My #1 love is gardening, which I studied in graduate school looking at the role of home gardening in the lives of limited resource families in rural Appalchia. Before now, I worked in civic agriculture for over many years through school, home, and community gardening projects. I've worked on an organic flower and vegetable farm, though I was raised on a dude ranch. I also love hiking and am getting more into backpacking. The Appalachian Mountains are my #1.5 love.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I began couchsurfing around Europe in the spring of 2011. After many wonderful experiences overseas, I opened my couch for a year here in Blacksburg, Virginia. Upon leaving Virginia in 2012, I traveled and surfed for two months around the US and Canada. I tried hosting in West Virginia, but I was far too rural! I still don't have the ability to host, but I'm happy to meet up and show you around town- especially the foodie/hike-y parts!
I have absolutely love this experience. You meet so many beautiful humans and are instantly in good company.
