ABOUT ME

I'm Lizi. My home is in the mountains, but I'm learning to try out new places, expand my box a little. My passion is people. I love the differences amongst us all. Mostly, I love how unique people with differing opinions, beliefs, and views in life can come together and create one entity. Like Couch Surfing, what an amazing community of people. Everyone has her own story and her own contribution. Put us all together and we create one huge, loving community. Now that's rad.

PHILOSOPHY

Ok, how about this: Life's like a big bike ride. You turn round and round, pushing the peddles, and sometimes it feels like you're going in circles, but eventually you end up entirely different from where you started. And the view's pretty awesome along the way.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm brand new to Couch Surfing, but I got involved with a similar organization called Warm Showers last year while bike touring. It's the exact same as Couch Surfing, but caters specifically to touring cyclists. Through Warm Showers I befriended some of the kindest, most generous people I've ever met. Everyone accepted us into their houses, shared their stories, and in general, made us feel welcome in unfamiliar towns. I'm really excited to be a part of Couch Surfing, to meet new people, and share new experiences.

Interests

So far my major interests in life have revolved around biking, backpacking, wiggling a lot, reading Latin American history books, dancing until exhaustion, singing as loud as possible whenever I find myself in a hidden spot, eating more chocolate than one would think is humanly possible, and in general, living a happy life. But the exciting thing about life is that our interests are constantly evolving. I want to learn Spanish. I am determined to do a pull-up ( I WILL do this!), and I'm excited to continue expanding and learning new things. Life's just too darn exciting to have static interests.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite book of all time is Weavers of Revolution by Peter Winn. I also really like 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Oh, and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks is also incredible. I love books. If you want to talk books, I am SO in!

Music, I like. Mostly I just want to dance. If it has a danceable beat, I'll probably get into it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I just recently saw the Northern Lights for the first time. It actually brought tears to my eyes. Just a nice reminder of how beautiful this world we live in is.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I love to talk books and history. Especially Latin American Cold War history. I also know a fair bit about bike mechanics. And I can make some mean brownies.

I'd love to learn more Spanish, more about playing music, and really any other craft. There's so much to learn in life, I'd like to try a little bit of everything.
