ABOUT ME

Midwestern girl with a love for travel! After spending a year in the advertising industry, I dusted off my suitcase, quit my job, sold my belongings and moved to New Zealand to become an au pair for a wonderful Auckland family. I have only 9 months here and I can't wait to experience all that New Zealand has to offer!

PHILOSOPHY

I haven't perfected my personal philosophy yet. I think the reason I quit my job and moved half way around the world was because there were so many uncertainties in my life. Being here has taught me that the scariest leaps are sometimes the best ones to take and that letting fear guide your decisions will not lead to happiness.

As my family is not keen on hosting couch surfers, I am on this website in hopes that I can couch surf and meet some lovely people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I studied abroad in Europe when I went to college and couch surfing was never something I was brave enough to do at the time. Looking back, I regret not taking the chance. Now that I am back to the life of traveling, I promised myself I would give couch surfing a try.

Interesses

I really enjoy reading, seeing live music, playing soccer, and board/card games. I am a Game of Thrones fan and I absolutely love dogs.

Music: I love all kinds of music but especially enjoy indie and folk
Books: Just finished The Night Train and it was excellent, I read mostly fiction and enjoy all kinds of books. I have to read a book before it hits the big screen.

I attended the Olympic games in 1996 which maybe not actually be amazing but felt amazing to be at a global sporting event. I've also experienced St. Patrick's day in Dublin, Ireland. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, deciding to quit my job and move here is one of the most amazing things I've done as well as being one of the scariest.

I can't think of a specific craft that I can teach people. I love the art of conversation, the nuances, the arguments, the give and take, the ebb and flow. I don't know how much help that can be but I do have a lot of curiosity in many things so perhaps my role in this is to learn and once I've learned enough, I can return the favor to someone else someday.

I've always want to learn how to sail, surf, properly camp, rock climb, etc.
