To enjoy life to the fullest and see as much of the world and experience as many cultures as I possibly can.

ABOUT ME
I am an older adventuresome world traveler who thrives on stories from others about their journeys and exciting experiences. I have had some amazing occurrences while traveling and, I too, like to share them with willing ears.

I have visited all of the states in the US. I find it interesting that Montana was the very last. I worked one season at a halibut and salmon fishing lodge out in the bush in Zachar Bay on Kodiak Island Alaska.

A trip to Africa a couple of years ago that included an awesome guided safari followed by a 7,000km self-drive completed my goal of exploring all seven continents.

I began working at McMurdo Station in Antarctica in 1998 as an admin during the austral summers and continue to deploy there each October.

My biggest sense of personal satisfaction is from my 820km walk on the Camino Santiago pilgrimage from Pied au Port, France to Finisterre, Spain.

A trip on the Trans-Siberian railway with an extended stop in Erkutsk Siberia is yet another highlight.

The image of hiking among the Blue Footed Boobies on the Galapagos Islands will remain forever.

I arrived at Machu Picchu in dense fog only to have it lift magically 2 hours later to reveal the ancient city.

This past year I was humbled by the Peace Park at Hiroshima in Japan. Also slept on the floor of a temple at 7000 feet and I never tired of the magnificent views of the cherry blossoms.

With no preplanning, I have celebrated some recent birthdays on the Yangzee River, in the Galapagos, and in a rainforest in Panama .

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed with friends and "friends of friends" around the world and hosted folks from all over the globe but I am new to organized couch surfing.

So many folks that I work with in the Antarctic community are so happy with their experiences that I decided it was time for me to join them.

Intereses

#1 World travel. I love to attend live performances at small theaters around the world. I enjoy nature (except snakes!!!), swimming and growing vegetables & herbs in Smart pots, collecting sea glass. I hope to become a member of the "Flower Angels' when I finally realize my dream to move to Harwich on Cape Cod.

Música, películas y libros

I still enjoy 50's and 60's music the best, especially the great slow songs from that era. Roy Orbison died way too young.

Travel documentaries are my favorite although I recently liked viewing "After the Wedding" and "Namesake".

Currently devouring both fiction and non-fiction about Cape Cod. "Elegy for Paula" and "Cottage For Sale, Must Be Moved" are two recent all time favorites. I also have an ancient copy of Norman Vincent Peale's "The Power of Positive Thinking" that still sends influential messages to me from it's dog eared pages.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

Swimming is my favorite form of exercise. I say with pride that I have taught both infants and mentally challenged adults to swim.

I like flipping houses and enjoy learning new decorating ideas.

I love to see photos taken by other travelers of their worldwide adventures and I love to share my own collection.
