About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To see the world, meet new people, explore other cultures, taste exciting foods and have fun while I'm doing it.
ABOUT ME
In the middle of 2010 I left my job in Australia to travel in Europe for a year. It was a great trip, with my boyfriend and his brother. Mostly we were travelling in a campervan, couchsurfing or WWOOFing. It was a really great time and we met so great friends. That's why we decided to come back in 2012 for another 6 months.
I love travelling, but I don't want to live out of a tourist guide. That's what I love about CS; it a chance to really experience a culture or a city with interesting people who can show you something that's not in the guide book.
I am a happy and energetic person who loves trying new things, meeting new people and seeing new places.
I'm serious about the things that I'm passionate about I would not say that I am the 'serious type'. I like spending time with people who know how to smile and enjoy life.
PHILOSOPHY
The timing is never perfect, opportunities aren't endless. Take a chance and live your dreams while you can.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
At the moment I am a little way into a big trip around Europe, and so I am just surfing right now. Although I can't offer a couch in Australia at the moment, let me know if you're headed to Adelaide and I'll give you my tips on the best bars and great places to eat.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I heard about CouchSurfing when I was getting ready to leave Australia for my current trip in Europe. I have to admit I was a little dubious about it at first, but after just a few experiences I am a complete convert. I have met so many great people, heard so many amazing travel stories, shared so many laughs, and learned so much more about the cities than I visited than I ever would have with a lonely planet guide and a map. Spending time with a local is like finding out the secrets of a city - someone's favourite bar, a suburban restaurant that's been running for 60years, or a hidden-away second-hand store with real bargains. I also love that CouchSurfing goes both ways - it always seems like our hosts have as much fun as we do. Almost all of our hosts have said that hosting is like travelling from their couch. When I eventually get back home to Australia I'm really looking forward to the experience of hosting, and giving back the amazing hospitality of all the wonderful hosts from my trip.
Interests
I LOVE cooking. You're much more likely to find me in the Kitchen than on the couch. I also love books, art, film, music and yoga. Recently i started runnung and my goal is to do my first 10k race this year.
And of course I I love to travel. And to meet other travellers and share stories.

Music, Movies, and Books
I read quite a lot, mostly fiction and more and more old classics. My favourite book is (and I suspect always will be) The Great Gatsby. Other classics I've read and loved are Breakfast at Tiffany's , A Clockwork Orange, 1984, Moby Dick, The Grapes of Wrath etc... I'm currently reading (struggling through) War and Peace.
I would say my music taste is extremely varied. I don't really like trance or techno music, but I would never rule out specific types of music. Some of the my most played list at the moment would be The National, Cloud Control, Tame Impala, Emiliana Torrini, Lykke Li, Mumford and Sons, The XX, Cat Power, Laura Marling, Boy and Bear, Angus and Julia Stone.
The artists I'll always go back to include Bob Marley, Massive Attack, Johnny Cash, Beck, The Talking Heads, The Smiths, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Cat Stevens, Bowie and The Velvet Underground.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sitting in a rooftop garden overlooking the medina in Marrakech, drinking mint tea, watching smoke billowing out of the food stalls, and prayer calls crackling out of loud-speakers. It was one of those special moments that you never forget.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to make a balloon-animal dog, an origami paper-crane, and how to make the most typical (and delicious) Australian desert - a Pavlova. I really love learning new recipes that have a cultural or personal significance to the people I meet while I travel and would be so happy if you have one to share with me.
