My mission is to try getting some sanity on the planet. Pro peaceful solutions, pro oxygen, pro planet, pro media. Am trying to get the instant run-off voting going so we can grow a Green Party without making our elections stealer friendly.

PHILOSOPHY

I think we should make things better while we're above ground. I feel we're powerful beings who are just constantly told to surrender our own essence. I never had the bumper sticker 'mean people suck' on my car--but I feel that's as good a guiding philosophy as any. So, I guess my philosophy is--let's be nice.

Unsure. I just joined.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Lots. New to this site, though. My wierdest experience was on a couch with friends of a friend at the end of a failed job search in Portland, OR. A bat came in through the fireplace and fluttered around. Very pretty, but worrisome too. Did a classic crescent flying pattern in front of the fireplace. UPDATE--I was actually BITTEN by a bat this summer and had to do the rabies series this past summer!

Interests

Organic gardening, flower gardening, biking, hiking, writing, reading, movies, concerts, body surfing if it's not too rough, swimming, finding the perfect shell. Don't get to do as much of that as I'd like. Someday I will find another Conn 8D French Horn and take that up again. I hear horn players have lower blood nitrogen levels. And it's fun.

Music, Movies, and Books

REDS is still one of my favorites. I just wish all the witnesses had name captions by them. I enjoyed Real Women Have Curves. I like documentaries. Every 15 years or so I try to reread a favorite Graham Green or Vonnegut novel. I like political authors, too.
Music--I like it all. I really do. Except some metal and some rap.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My parents and in-laws had extended periods of medical care before they died. I find the human spirit and its capacity to heal and survive very amazing, in certain cases. My mom, for instance, not only 'lingered' but got a lot of stuff done in her last year--a year when she was technically dead if you believed her blood counts.

Teach, Learn, Share

Soapbox time? Great. I think journalism wounded itself by enforcing 'ethical norms' to punish those who actually modeled the George Seldes admonition to "Tell the Truth And Run!" (run because then you'll have to). The profit mongers took over and now have abandoned vast tracts of America's democratic experiment. Already we're seeing huge differences in local voter turnout where newspapers do or do not exist. We need publicly funded journalists--not the CPB model corrupted by 'under-writing'--but journalists who actually don't fear for their jobs. Hmmm. Go to Freepress.org if you want more info on this.
