About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Never to be bored, to keep seeking out new experiences, elaborating new projects and meeting new people.
ABOUT ME
I just finished my studies at St Andrews University and am ready to get on to the next exciting stage! (whatever that may be)
I can't remember how I got into CS, but it has been a long and happy relationship. I aim to make the most of it and start hosting as soon as I have a couch. It is such a wonderful way of meeting people and getting a different perspective on the places you travel to.
PHILOSOPHY
I find it difficult to articulate a life philosophy, there is so much to say and so much I haven't learned yet! I guess I would say something like: if you take life too seriously then the joke is on you. Enjoy it, share it, laugh with it, and keep moving.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have mainly been a surfee, but only for material reasons. I participate by trying to respect and promote the principle of sharing, by not merely considering it as a cheap way to travel, but as a meaningful point of contact between people who have so much to give to one another.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
All great! I made some of my best friends couchsurfing and I wouldn't want to give it up for anything. Through CS I have been able to see a wholly different side to travelling and had experiences that I could never have hoped for if I hadn't met people who knew and loved the places they live.
Interests
I love art, reading (from old detective stories to science fiction and classical literature), films...I am passionate about history, the weirder the better, and politics. Really, there is little that will not stimulate my interest.
I am also a keen hiker and museum visitor (warning: I read every sign, booklet and description!).

Music, Movies, and Books
HP Lovecraft, Asimov, Terry Pratchett...I am a total nerd when it comes to social history, so any book on the subject will become a favourite!
Music-wise, I tend to prefer classical blues, jazz, rock...although have developed a terrible taste for dance music for when I do sport! I am also a fan of David Bowie and T.Rex, Kate Bush and loads of others it would take too long to list.
In terms of films, I am a sucker for anything which is aesthetically pleasing or with a great soundtrack, really the only genre I cannot stand is rom-coms. Some of my favourites would be the Blues Brothers films (both), films by Peter Greenaway and Ken Loach, I also have a penchant for old 'black and white' and silent films.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I walked on the Lac Assal in Djibouti : miles and miles of salt that looks like snow, but it's one of the hottest places on the planet.
Teach, Learn, Share
Well, I can speak English and French, I draw and model clay, I enjoy languages, discussing history and politics.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A good laugh, an interest in the place they live, funny travelling stories and some rather poor cooking skills.
