Why I’m on Couchsurfing

What I frequently miss when travelling is contact with locals and Couchsurfing makes up for that! Through my international experiences I have come to know many amazing people and truly understand how great human diversity is. Of course, you can always learn and explore so much more and that is where I think Couchsurfing can help.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love 80s and 90s rock, so Pink Floyd, Guns'n'Roses, R.E.M, the Queen remain some of my all time favourites. I drift back to the Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Deep Purple, the Eagles, the Cure and many others and then ricochet to more recent artists such as The Arctic Monkeys, the Fratellis, the Vaccines, the Black Keys. I also enjoy indie rock, jazz and blues. Not a big fan of electronic music.

Some of the films that I can always re-watch: American Beauty, LOTR, the Bourne trilogy (which is no longer a trilogy), Dial M for Murder, Inception, the Prestige, Her, everything by Guy Ritchie, and many more. I love watching films of almost all kinds, but mostly prefer mind-boggling ones that push me to re-consider my attitudes and views.

Some of my favourite authors are Julian Barnes, Paul Auster, Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Virginia Woolf, and George Orwell. I love American modern and postmodern literature but also always enjoy going back to "the roots" - to Harry Potter, the Hobbit, Sherlock Holmes' chronicles and Hercule Poirot. Apart from Anglophone literature, I grew up with Hermann Hesse whom I still appreciate very much. I also like French classics and have read my fair share of Russian realists.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have lived in Montenegro, Serbia, Austria and Germany so far and I would love to do a bit of a cultural exchange with the host. I could tell you more about Balkan food, our customs, traditional garments and historical heritage, and I would also love to hear more from you. I'm open to sharing my experiences and ideas and I believe that international encounters are a source of great personal enrichment.
