About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore life and broaden my experiences in as many ways as possible..to enjoy, create, be a part of our wonderful world :)

ABOUT ME

I'm a slightly wacky, fun, fairly interesting (I hope!), sometimes a little intense, passionate, caring, excitable lass from Scotland. I left school and spent a year in Guyana, South America living in an Amerindian community in the rainforest and teaching Maths, Biology and more...what an experience! I learnt so much and had the best year ever. It ignited a real desire to explore the world in me. I hope I'm keeping all these ideas and enthusiasms alive whilst constantly learning more and reacting to the world I'm discovering.

Less idealogically, I spend most of my time trying to be productive, drinking tea, making and eating cake, talking the hind legs off multiple donkeys, laughing and crying, planning all the wonderful things I'm going to do, listening to obscure (incredible) music and dancing - around my bedroom, in a salsa bar, down the street..the world would be a better place if everyone just danced a little more!

PHILOSOPHY

I live to try and make the most of anything life throws at me and to enjoy every second of it. I think everyone should be able to do this and so I try and do things which will contribute to the overall wonder and beauty of life, and fight against the injustices and gloom which threaten them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Want to travel, happy to host as long as I'm around and my house mates are agreeable to it. Couch-surfing is a phenomenal way to experience a place and to get a real impression. What a brilliant idea!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So I haven't had any official couch surfing experiences yet, though I've definitely surfed a few couches/hammocks/floors in my time and had the best experiences - hence why I wanna sign up and have some more!

Interests

The sunshine and the sea, gardening, apple juicing, wandering, cycling, cooking and baking, reading, having epic philosophical chats, dancing, drinking rum, lying in a hammock, friends and family and strangers too, travel, making the world more wonderful for everyone who lives in it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ah too many - movies affect me too emotionally so I try and keep it a little light mostly. Books I do no such thing - the deeper the better. Music - anything with a beautiful melody, harmony, voice, instrument or a beat I can move to. Particularly love Soca, Afrobeat, Dancehall, Tropical, High Life, Brazilian Forro etc..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went from being a 17 year old schoolgirl to being a teacher but still definitely learnt more than I imparted. Also seen some true wonders of the world - from Kaiteur Falls to Lethem rodeo and Notting hill carnival - they are wonders in my opinion!

Teach, Learn, Share

Pretty rubbish guyanese creole, accompanied by odd scottish/caribbean accent. I would love to say I could teach you to dance but I'm not sure I can promise that much...but I can certainly share a wonderful experience of letting your hair down and shaking your bum and that's dancing as far as I'm concerned! Although I can definitely show you a few scottish country dances. Maths if you REALLY want (please no.) Philosophical musings. Wonderful baking - gluten free, vegan, you name it.

I'd love to learn any new languages, some proper dancing techniques, traditional recipes, crafting and any other eccentricities.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Brazil, Croatia, Cyprus, England, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Monaco, Netherlands, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, United States, Wales

Countries I’ve Lived In

Guyana, Switzerland, United Kingdom
