ABOUT ME

I'm a natural historian from the Pacific Northwest. I've set out to document the current state of the natural world and find inspiration for writing. I am in graduate school, pursuing an MFA in Creative Non-fiction.

PHILOSOPHY

My goal is to convey to others through art and writing the beauty and wonder I see around me in nature.

Cooking with others is one of my favorite activities. I love being able to share delicious recipes and try new things.

Music is a huge part of my life. I DJ for fun back home, and have always had a great appreciation for all kinds. Currently I'm on a soul and French electronic kick.

I am an enthusiastic reader, though I've been especially excited about nature writing. Annie Dillard, Aldo Leopold, Loren Eiseley, and Edward Abbey.

I like any movie that makes me scratch my head in confusion, or is visually intriguing.

I went scuba diving at night in the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Australia. All I could see was the small spot illuminated by my flashlight. I was floating in pitch blackness. Occasionally, fish would swim through my beam of light, or I would catch the outlines of a shark off in the distance. It was an incredibly thrilling experience.
