About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To farm my food!

ABOUT ME

I'm laid back, like people, thrive on enthusiasm, and impulsive. I am from Mississippi. I lived in Vermont for two years working in retail and rentals at Stratton Mtn. where I learned to ski. Then I realized there were bigger mountains and more snow in Colorado so I went there and stayed for five years. I worked for the National Park Service in the summer at Rocky Mountain National Park and spent winters in Breckenridge working for the ski area. I moved away from all that to go back to school and study Nursing. I went to nursing school in Hot Springs, AR and worked there for a year and a half after graduating. Now I'm back in Mississippi where I was raised. I recently moved back to the family farm and I plan to plant orchards and maybe have some goats and sheep also. Still nursing too.

PHILOSOPHY

work hard, play hard

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love to surf when I travel and I love to host. I have hosted so many great people since I started this in 2007 in Colorado. I get most requests from new couchsurfing members and I encourage them to stay involved and host other couchsurfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I mostly hosted skiers and snowboaders in Breckenridge. In the summer time, I hosted lots of internationals visiting Rocky Mountain National Park. It was such a great time every time. Couchsurfing enhances my life!

Interests

Hiking, biking, skiing, swimming, running, camping, paddleing, climbing, backpacking, walking, skipping, driving Subaru's and old Chevy's. Historic preservation-old houses, barns, and churches really get me excited. Volunteer work: trail maintenance, youth mentoring, other. Trail development, we have nowhere great to ride in Miss. I really want to plant a garden and grow my own food, or start a CSA farm. Or just get all my food at the local farmers market which has really good fresh fruit and veggies.

Music, Movies, and Books

I just watched WALL-E for the 5th time in as many days and I think it going to be true if we don't stop all the mindless consumption. I thought it was great! Books by Edward Abbey, H.D. Thoreau. Movies: The Shawshank Redemption, The Scent of a Woman, Apocalypse Now, Music: country, rock on the FM.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail, 2003

Teach, Learn, Share

I bought a Sunfish Sailboat last year and I have not used the damn thing once because it is too big for me to move by myself and I can't afford a trailer. If someone would go sailing with me that would be awesome! Disclaimer: I don't really know how to sail. :/

What I Can Share with Hosts
